AURORA, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- After over 150+ years, Wells College says it will be closing its doors at the end of this academic semester.
Small NY colleges fighting negative trends
The college says they do not have enough 'adequate financial resources' to be able to remain open.
"These challenges have been exacerbated by a global pandemic, a shrinking pool of undergraduate students nationwide, inflationary pressures, and an overall negative sentiment towards higher education," wrote Wells College on its website.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Teen Empowerment, a nonprofit that has been around for decades, is holding its annual luncheon fundraiser to fund its expanding programs.
The organization has been in Rochester for twenty years. The organization hires young people in the neighborhoods it serves to do social change work.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) - Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley released a video statement Monday morning in response to the viral video of her arguing with a Webster Police Officer who tried to pull her over for speeding.
In a video statement posted Monday morning, Doorley apologized to the community, saying she did not treat the officer with respect. She explains she dealt with three homicides that occurred including an incident where a cab driver was killed, and was dealing with a medical condition her husband received.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Rochester police are looking for two cars involved in a hit-and-run crash on Dewey Avenue after midnight on Monday.
According to investigators, one vehicle was heading northbound on Dewey Avenue when it was hit by one of two cars, sending it off the road and into a tree. That vehicle was driven by a 50-year-old woman. The passenger, a 37-year-old woman, was treated at the scene for upper body pain.

In Control Outreach & Education's initiatives collaborated to feature works from the next generation of talented designers and photographers. ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Rochester Police are investigating the report of shots fired into a house on Fourth Street Sunday night.
According to RPD, just after 8 p.m., officers assigned responded to the 300 block of Fourth Street for the report of a building struck by gunfire and quickly noted the residence had been hit at least one time by gunfire.
Officers said at the time of the incident, the home was occupied by three children who were not injured.
