FORT COLLINS — Larimer County District Court Judge Stephen Jouard has denied a motion to dismiss the lawsuit filed against Precious Memories Pet Cemetery and Crematory Inc.
On Jan. 26, Slobber Shoppe LLC and Western Skies Animal Rehabilitation LLC filed a lawsuit in which they claimed that Precious Memories breached contracts and fraudulently misrepresented its services in the disposal of pets sent to it on behalf of customers of those Windsor-based veterinary companies.
Precious Memories filed a motion to dismiss, saying that the two vet clinics lacked standing to file the lawsuit because the ..read more

Colorado’s gray wolves expanded their range in northern Colorado in April, traveling further into watersheds in Moffat, Routt and Larimer counties, state wildlife officials reported Wednesday.
Collars on two of the 10 wolves released by Colorado Parks and Wildlife in December stopped working, but those two wolves are still alive and traveling with other wolves with functioning collars, state officials said in a news release Wednesday.
One of the collared wolves was found dead in Larimer County last week from apparent natural causes.

Hawaii lawmakers are hoping that phasing out short-term rentals could help ease its worsening housing crisis, where locals face the highest housing costs in the nation and one of the worst rates of homelessness.
Two bills that would allow for new regulation of “transient accommodations” have moved readily through the state legislature this spring, and if passed, could provide new avenues to limit the short-term home rental industry, which has exploded in recent years across the state’s four populated islands.
But the issue has been a challenging one for o ..read more

Here’s a quick sheet pan dinner. I coated halibut fillet with a mayonnaise sauce and chopped pecans, which added a nice crunch and flavor to the fish. The halibut bakes on the sheet pan along with broccoli florets and sweet potato cubes to complete the meal.
Halibut is a tender fish that is tasty with a mild subtle sweetness. Other fish such as mahi mahi, swordfish or even tilapia will work with this dinner. It only takes 10 minutes to cook and there’s no pot to wash.
HELPFUL HINTS:
Sugar can be substituted for honey.
Chop pecans in food processor.

WASHINGTON — After 20,000 or more New Hampshire voters received a call with the artificial-intelligence-doctored voice of President Joe Biden asking them to skip the state’s primary in January, state officials were in a quandary.
Attorney General John M. Formella launched an investigation alongside others into the robocall that urged recipients to “save your vote for the November election,” ultimately identifying a Texas-based organization as the culprit. But New Hampshire lawmakers who say simply identifying the origins of these deepfakes isn’t enough are bac ..read more

HISLE, S.D. — Katherine Goodlow is only 20, but she has experienced enough to know that people around her are dying too young.
Goodlow, a member of the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe, said she’s lost six friends and acquaintances to suicide, two to car crashes, and one to appendicitis. Four of her relatives died in their 30s or 40s, from causes such as liver failure and covid-19, she said. And she recently lost a 1-year-old nephew.
“Most Native American kids and young people lose their friends at a young age,” said Goodlow, who is considering becoming a mental h ..read more
