PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — After protesters occupied it for days, the Portland State University library is expected to remain closed until the fall. PSU President Ann Cudd said the Branford Price Millar Library is "not suitable for occupation." PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Enrique Tapia-Chavez was sentenced to life in prison Thursday for murdering 40-year-old Juan Javier Moncivais in a Hillsboro parking lot back in July 2022. According to the Washington County District Attorney’s Office, the incident unfolded when Tapia-Chavez drove his girlfriend's car into a parking lot near Southeast 10th Avenue and Southeast Walnut Street. As Tapia-Chavez arrived, he saw Moncivais walking along Walnut Street and into the same lot. (KOIN) – Plans to develop offshore wind energy areas off the Oregon coast are moving forward after the United States Department of the Interior announced a proposal on Tuesday to sell wind energy leases in Coos Bay and Brookings. The lease proposal, from the department's Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, includes more than 195,000 acres and could power more than one million homes. (KOIN) — The Multnomah County Elections Division announced they are sending out replacement ballots for 9,300 voters who were sent a previous version that was incorrect.  The original ballots omitted Measure 26-244, part of the May 21 Primary Election, which is related to residents within the regional government Metro. PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- The east end of the Morrison Bridge is closed Friday morning due to a rollover crash involving a semi-truck, officials say. As of 11:17 a.m., access to the Morrison Bridge from Southeast Grand Avenue is currently closed.
