Calzona Congratulates Napoli But European Prospects Fade Away

Napoli wasted another opportunity to consolidate their pursuit of the European spots, drawing 2-2 against Roma at home. After last weekend’s dreadful performance against Empoli, Francesco Calzona’s men outclassed Giallorossi but failed to return to the win column.  Given the number of chances Napoli created before halftime, it’s inconceivable how they headed into halftime goalless. The hosts weren’t clinical in front of goal, and it came back to haunt them at the final whistle. However, defensive mishaps played their part. Both Roma’s goals came from set-piece plays. The Cult of Calcio

In one of the most anticipated clashes of the 34th round of Serie A, Napoli hosted Roma at the Stadio Maradona for the Derby del Sole. Following a goalless first half, the encounter came to life after the break. Against the run of play, Paulo Dybala gave the visitors the lead from the spot, but the Partenopei turned the result upside-down through a deflected shot from Mathias Olivera followed by Victor Osimhen’s penalty kick. Nevertheless, there was still one twist left in the tale, with Tammy Abraham snatching a late equalizer for the Giallorossi. So here are our player ratings for Napoli wh ..read more

Roma Player Ratings vs Napoli: Abraham Back On The Scoresheet
The Cult of Calcio

Roma held Napoli to a 2-2 draw in an enthralling Derby del Sole at the Diego Maradona Stadium on Sunday evening. One of the most exciting match-ups on this weekend’s Serie A schedule lived up to the billing, with all four goals coming in the second half.  Daniele De Rossi’s approach was nearly a spitting image of Roma’s football under Jose Mourinho. Only pure luck and Napoli’s profligacy in front of goal helped the visitors take a 0-0 scoreline into halftime. Last season’s champions demolished Giallorossi in the first half but couldn’t make their initiative count.  Roma di ..read more

The Cult of Calcio

Igor Tudor and Mattia Zaccagni returned to haunt their former side tonight as Lazio overcame Hellas Verona 1-0 thanks to a neat Zaccagni finish after a quick one-two with Luis Alberto. Verona mustered very little going forward but Lazio had to work hard to carve out this victory. Tudor changed his squad’s shape during the second period, his players reacted well to Amy positional changes and never lost their solidity. The Croatian will be happy to come away with all three points instead of what would’ve been a disappointing home draw. Let’s have a look at our Lazio Player Ratings: Lazio ( 3-4 ..read more

Despite delivering another toothless performance following a 2-1 derby defeat to Inter on Monday, Milan made history with today’s draw. For the first time in a storied tradition of this fixture, Rossoneri have gone unbeaten in five consecutive away matches against Juventus. But that ..read more

Juventus vs Milan 0-0: Spoils Shared at the Allianz Stadium
The Cult of Calcio

Juventus and Milan failed to hurt each other and shared the spoils at the Allianz Stadium in what was perhaps the last “big match” of the Serie A season. With both sides coming from a disappointing league campaign but having pretty much secured Champions League football next season, pride and the second place in the table were the only things at stake today.  The goalless stalemate resulted in Milan maintaining their five-point lead over the Old Lady unchanged. Stefano Pioli might come home happy in what was likely one of his last outings as the Rossoneri‘s head coach. However, Max Alleg ..read more

Charles De Ketelaere has seemingly done enough during his loan spell to convince Atalanta to hand him a permanent contract.
