LONDON BEST BRUNCHES AND BREAKFASTS IN 2020

A couple of weeks ago was pancake day and, of course, the office organized a pancake spread like I have never seen before. Buttermilk pancakes, crepes, blueberry pancakes, yogurt, fresh fruit, ice cream, chocolate and the list goes on. While I was digging into a stack of fluffy pancakes I thought how unfair it was for the other breakfast/brunch items to not have a celebratory day: what about sourdough and avo day? Or cereal and milk day? Or eggs benedict day? So I made a list of my favourite breakfast/brunch spots in London and decided to write an article just to celebrate all the great foo ..read more

EASY VEGETARIAN LASAGNE: SECRETS OF THE ITALIAN TRADITIONAL RECIPE
Food You Should Know

It’s a Saturday afternoon and I am meeting my friend Margs at Sainsbury’s to get the ingredients for the dinner party. After the success of the vegan feast she expressed the desire of learning some Italian basic recipes – my first thought was “lasagne”. Making a lasagne is quite easy but it requires some basic knowledge of how to prepare a ragu and a white sauce – yes, we use white sauce no ricotta. In the spirit of using veggies instead of meat I proposed to cook a mushroom ragu lasagne which, to be fair, I like it even more than the carnivore version. The earthiness / umami of the mushroo ..read more

BERLIN MUST SEE: 13 TOP THINGS TO DO IN 48 HOURS IN BERLIN

I recently went on a weekend trip to Berlin and I must say the German capital is one of the most fascinating European cities I have seen so far. The history of the city permeates every building, street and park. As you walk through Berlin you can see the 2 faces of the city, East and West, now reunited under one flag but still distinguishable through the marks of history. It’s a young city, easily walkable and very tourist friendly. PRO TIP: I recommend getting the BERLIN WELCOME CARD which offers discounts on 200 museums and attractions around Berlin, free use of public transport (bus ..read more

HOW TO COOK DELICIOUS VEGGIES FOR YOUR VEGAN FRIENDS AND NOT We all have a group chat of about 30 people – your closest friends, friends of friends, people you might have seen once etc. – that are used to plan parties: who, where, what, when, why? It was early Jan when the bf and I announced on the group chat “Late Night Cappuccini” that they were all invited to a house party on the 25th, to bring drinks and that we would have provided food. Margs replied “is it going to be vegan?”. I forgot that we were in full Veganuary. The idea of cooking only vegan was fun and challenging, so we decide ..read more

MASSERIA MOROSETA: A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DINNER IN PUGLIA

August ’19 South Italy. Puglia. Ostuni, a few miles outside the white town: Masseria Moroseta, our dinner destination. As we make our way on a rural road, the wry olive trees get thicker and older, the scent of wild herbs in the air, and I expect to see a dog chasing us at any time for trespassing a massero’s property. We took a wrong turn, we might be lost, but we keep going: the sunset scenery wipes off any doubt and a bit of adventure whets the appetite. I am thinking of Chef Giorgia Eugenia Goggi and the things I read about her cooking, the life at the masseria and the last i ..read more

WHY FOOD YOU SHOULD KNOW

Perpetually hungry since 1991. Over the years I developed what I would call a “food fever” or, in other words, a persistent need to eat the best food out there. The quest for the perfect bite led us – the boyfriend and me – to some incredible dining experiences around the world. We would book a restaurant and then buy the flights and plan our holiday around our special reservation. Our best memories are a collection of dishes: the crab and burnt cream we had at Fäviken, the tsukemen in Tokyo station etc. I know it might sound like we spend most of our time eating – which is not ..read more
