Reading Time: 4 minutes (Washington) – Earlier this week, President Trump appointed Vice President Mike Pence to lead a task force to combat the spread of the coronavirus, defying calls to appoint an outside expert to coordinate the response.  Since the onset of the virus, countries around the world, particularly in Asia, have seen their economies crumble. Businesses and schools closed, and markets have halted to a standstill. Here in the United States, stocks have fallen sharply due to fears of the virus spreading into the country. On Thursday, the Dow plunged 1,100 points or 4.4%. The Dow h ..read more

Reading Time: 3 minutes On Thursday, CNN published a story that took a proposed electoral college map from The University of Virginia and ran with it. The article is their attempt to help support the Democratic Party’s suggestion that Sanders cannot win. I certainly agree, Sanders will not defeat Trump in a general election. But it highlights the use of the media to help push the Democrats agenda. According to the Center for Politics at UVA, a Bernie Sanders nomination would create a 260 to 248 electoral college split at this current time. They allowed 30 of the electoral college votes to be ..read more

In the new study, 11 states are examined for the potential costs of the Green New Deal. The state that would pay the most is Alaska, with estimated first year costs at $84.584 and ongoing costs of over $50,000 annually. My home state of North Carolina would see initial costs of almost $75,000 an ..read more

Both bills needed the support of 60 members of the Senate to pass the cloture motion bringing the bills to the floor. In the case of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection act, all Republicans and three Democrats supported the measure. Bob Casey, Doug Jones, and Joe Manchin sided with Re ..read more

Reading Time: 3 minutes On Wednesday, the 2nd US Circuit Court of Appeals sided with the Trump administration on a high profile immigration case. The appeals court reversed a lower courts ruling that required the administration to release funds to seven states and New York City. The case will now likely end up at the Supreme Court. In January 2017, President Trump issued an executive order that withheld federal funding from these locations. These seven states and NYC had declared themselves sanctuaries from immigration policies. They state that forcing compliance with immigration laws will di ..read more

Reading Time: 3 minutes On Tuesday, CNN White House correspondent Jim Acosta went after President Trump at a press conference in India. Acosta asked Trump specifically about allowing foreign interference into this years election. He continued his question with a second part about the outgoing director of national intelligence, Joseph Maguire. The exchange did not go so well, but that’s just how Acosta wanted it. Acosta is obviously trying to capitalize on recent reports that Russia may be trying to interfere with US elections again this year. Initially, reports were that they were trying to h ..read more

The Left Argues We Must Allow The Government To Run Things To Save Them, But It Has Not Worked Before
The Closet Conservative

Reading Time: 4 minutes Simply turn on the news and you will hear the same argument, we must allow free healthcare, free tuition and spend trillions on the Green New Deal to save society. It’s been the staple of the radical left for several years, but none of these government takeovers have worked before. You can simply look back at many of the big government programs that were implemented during FDR’s administration. Most of them are burdens, rather than helps. The left is arguing for free things, but these free things aren’t free. Someone somewhere has to pay for them. But the left continue ..read more

(Richmond) On Friday, Virginia Republican State Senator, William Stanley, Jr. took to Facebook to announce that he tried to amend the state budget to give all men and women of Virginia’s sheriffs’ departments a 3% raise for this year. It was defeated, with all Democrats voting “no.” Stanley took to Facebook to share his displeasing of the Democrat’s actions.
