Springing into Summer with Naoki’s New Mame Matcha
Tea and Me Blog

Naoki Matcha saw how matcha experienced a popularity boom (and subsequently an increase in lower quality matcha coming to market) and sought to fix that by offering a versatile and cost-effective matcha series that allowed the consumer to enjoy matcha in traditional and non-traditional ways while sharing the knowledge they have accumulated so far. Another difference is the way that they source their matcha, working with a network of tea estates instead of just a few single ones. This allows them to change based on feedback from consumers. I have worked with Naoki Matcha before and bought ..read more

How can ChatGPT help the Tea Industry?
Tea and Me Blog

AI – artificial intelligence – is not only a crazy concept to wrap your mind around, but an ever-emerging topic and technology that is quickly being immersed to the mass population of people. ChatGPT is the biggest piece of technology lately that I have seen make such a large impact on how people use AI. I actually use it at my work all the time to help bring ideas, rephrase things, and build up content. But this has me wondering, how can we use ChatGPT in the tea industry? Will it make us bloggers here obsolete? Launched in November 2022, ChatGPT is considered a Chatbox. While it is free now ..read more

Tea and Me Blog

You know when you have a core memory of doing something – only to realize it never happened? This review is the definition of that. I know I had my notes and a whole bank of photos done, yet I can’t find any evidence of doing so. This tea was delivered to me at my old home where I tried it and then it got packed into a box and just recently rediscovered. And those notes? Vanished! Either way – when I make a commitment – I stick to it! Upland Tea Company is a groovy tea company that started around the idea that tea can be innately healing, with a focus on rooibos. They have three main points hi ..read more

Discovering Laos with Atlas Tea Club: Shan Cha Black
Tea and Me Blog
by Danielle

My contact at Atlas Tea Club told me that she was most excited about this location due to ” Mr. Lnthavong’s teas that are hand-plucked from wild tea trees as old as 100 years, from the famous Ban Komaen gardens in northern Lao”. It took me this long to get to the tea, but it is not one that I will soon forget. I have reviewed this company before so I was very excited to work with them again and discover new teas from areas that I have not had tea from before. This is one of a two that was in the box, so here are my thoughts on the Sham Cha Black from Laos. Sham Cha Bla ..read more

Yeah, I know. It’s been a while. Let’s pretend it hasn’t been 5 months since I last posted and instead treat this as if we are friends out getting a pot of tea on the town. But I can say – IT IS GREAT TO BE WITH YOU ALL AGAIN! And more specifically, it is great to be writing about tea again. This company has been very patient, in fact, any company that fell within the last 6 months has been patient. But specifically Westlake Longjing Tea, a tea company based in China that is trying to expand people’s understanding of Longjing tea through their 100 years of family experience producing it. Opinion Piece: The Mental Effects of Tea Medical Claims
Tea and Me Blog
by Danielle

There are many reasons that people drink tea. Some just for its soothing nature. Others drink tea for the overall practice and mental space it gives. Some drink it for its perceived health benefits. This piece is not to tear down or judge anyone on their reasoning for drinking tea. Instead, I hope to give a little perspective on my opinion of tea and the role it plays in my life, as well as talk about how some tea medical claims can be negative on the mental health of its consumers. I have run this blog for three years. On my journey, I have seen a lot of wild claims about tea. Some claim to d ..read more

Hello – it’s me again (I hope you didn’t forget me in my small leave of absence)! Many life events are occurring at the moment, but I am trying to slowly but surely bring tea back into daily practice. To do that, I thought….why not start with Matcha Monday? Bonsai Cha specializes in selling matcha straight from the source, founded by mother/daughter duo Donna and Avery. Avery had the opportunity to relocate to Fukuoka, Japan, and there she found an absolute love of Matcha. After Donna visited Avery, she was introduced to the same amazing matcha in Kyoto – and they knew they needed to bring it ..read more

Teavivre is a Chinese Tea company founded in 2011, run by Angel Chen, Chris Yang, and Wenny Ren. Angel has a note on the site about how she explores many areas to bring the best tea back for her company and capture her experiences in each cup. All of their teas are USDA and EU-certified organic, and they have a lot of tea sourcing information available (which you know I love). After being on their website for a while, I can tell that there is a tea for everyone since their variety is so established and large. They sent me 3 different varieties of puerh tea, two ripe and one raw. Today, I am go ..read more

Little Red Cup is a small, family-owned tea company from Brunswick, Maine. They offer whole leaf tea from China, especially ones that can be brewed all day. All of their teas are certified organic by the USDA and certified fair trade by Fair Trade USA – as Little Red Cup tries to be as sustainable as they can be. Starting Iced Tea Season with Sweet Melon Tea
Tea and Me Blog
by Danielle

It is officially getting warm in Michigan, and to celebrate – I have broken out my tea pitcher and am starting to cold-brew. My family normally goes through quite a bit of iced tea, so I was very excited when FAVA Tea sent me some of their teas to try iced. I am kicking off the season with their Sweet Melon Herbal Tea, which is seasonal to the summer season. Sweet Melon Herbal Tea I brewed this tea overnight in my pitcher, using all of the tea in the sample provided. I tried to not add too much water as to not water down the brew, which I think was a good move. The color of this tea was a brig ..read more
