Toward the end of Spring Training, Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom told reporters what to expect from this Red Sox team. "I think this is a team that grinds, and it's going to be a fun team. At our best, we're going to grind every at-bat. We're going to make you work throw strikes and put the ball in play." This sounds nothing like the 2022 Red Sox. Things have changed. Chaim Bloom has made the necessary changes for the Red Sox to be a better team in 2023, especially offensively. For Boston to have more success this season, here are seven things that need to go right for them. 1. Since losi ..read more

The Trade DET 2024 First-Round Pick 2025 Fourth-Round pick 50% of Bertuzzi's contract BOS Tyler Bertuzzi This has been the craziest Trade Deadline in NHL history. Many have referred to this deadline as an "arms race" in the Eastern Conference, with Boston, New York, Tampa Bay, Carolina, and Toronto aggressively upgrading their rosters to pursue the Stanley Cup. The injuries of Nick Foligno and Taylor Hall allowed the Bruins to circumvent the NHL's salary cap, placing Hall on LTIR to allow for more cap space. With their recently added cap space, the Bruins acquired star winger Tyler Bertuzz ..read more

Five Star Players the Bruins Should Avoid at the Trade Deadline

The Boston Bruins have a legitimate shot at winning the Stanley Cup. With the Trade Deadline approaching, the Bruins are in an exciting position. Like most teams, they do have much salary cap flexibility. Twelve teams have no cap space, and 27 have less than 3 million. It will be difficult to acquire players at this year's deadline, and teams will be forced to take on salaries to move players. The Bruins having little to no cap space is a tough situation, but it is not unlike the rest of the league. Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney has a history of being both creative and aggressive with mid ..read more

Three Key players to watch in the Second Half

The Boston Bruins have entered the second half of the season and are currently the favorites to win the Stanley Cup. This Bruins team has been dominant, and I have never seen anything like it. They are (blank in the National Hockey League in goals). They have allowed the fewest goals and sit nine points above the next-best team in the NHL. This team has the talent, depth, and goaltending to win the Stanley Cup. However, there is room for improvement, which sounds ridiculous when describing a team that is 33-5-4 with one regulation loss at home. But these three players are essential if the Brui ..read more

Bruins Sign Pavel Zacha to Four Year Extension

After Saturday’s exciting 4-3 victory over the rival Toronto Maple Leafs at the TD Garden, the Bruins announced a four-year extension for forward Pavel Zacha with a cap hit of 4.75 million. After several seasons with the Devils, where Zacha had some struggles, he has fit in perfectly with Boston’s second line. Earlier in the season, I wrote about how Zacha’s versatility, work ethic, and skill fit in with the Bruins second line. Since then, I have continued to be impressed with Zacha’s game. Zacha’s combination of size, speed, and skill is special. He is in the middle of a breakout season in Bo ..read more

What is Alex Verdugo's Future in Boston?

Alex Verdugo is at an interesting point in his career. The 27-year-old outfielder was acquired in the Mookie Betts deal and has been the most significant player Boston has received in the infamous trade. Throughout his three seasons with the Red Sox, Verdugo has played solid baseball. Verdugo has the hit tool to become a difference-maker with excellent contact skills and the ability to hit the ball all over the field. Unfortunately, Verdugo has not established himself as an All-Star caliber player due to inconsistency at the plate. When asked what players need to take a step forward in 2023, R ..read more

Red Sox Thoughts: Justin Turner, JD Martinez, Shortstop and Devers Extension
thebatflip26

The Boston Red Sox have signed Justin Turner to a one-year deal for 8.3 million with a 2024 player option for 11.4 million. Turner has spent the last nine years with the Dodgers, where he has been a significant part of their offense. It appeared the Dodgers ended the hopes of a Turner reunion after signing Red Sox legend JD Martinez to a one-year deal worth 10 million. Interesting that the Red Sox and Dodgers have coincidentally swapped stars in the Free Agency period. Turner has been a star for nearly a decade. Like Martinez, he struggled early in his Major League career, but after adjusting ..read more

Red Sox Targets: Willy Adames

The Red Sox have a few areas of need to address this option. The loss of Xander Bogaerts leaves a massive hole in the lineup. I believe the best candidate to replace Bogaerts is Dansby Swanson. However, I think the Red Sox are avoiding Free Agents with Qualifying Offers attached to their names to prevent losing draft picks and international bonus money. I think the Red Sox will make most of their moves in the trade market. Chaim Bloom has stated that the trade market is “something we are very, very actively exploring.” The minor league depth and prospect pool the Red Sox have built up under Bl ..read more

Red Sox Targets: Bryan Reynolds

This offseason's Free Agency market has been one of the wildest in baseball history. It's not a particularly deep Free Agent class beyond the Shortstop position, so teams have been paying a steep price for the available high-end talent, especially in terms of contract length. It is also noteworthy that baseball's best player agent, Scott Boras is not afraid to continue negotiating contracts for his clients well into the new year. Free Agency is a long and slow process. With big names still on the Free Agent board, the trade market has been dead. However, one name at the center of trade rumors ..read more
