I feel like I’m living in a dream! Isn’t that what we say when our life changes in the direction we had hoped to someday reach? Oh, the relief when a dream turns out to be a good one! Hey there! See all those numbers in that photo? Yep, that's been my world for the past few weeks. Crunching numbers, living and breathing them! It feels like I dream in numbers now. Back in the day, I was okay with math. I even homeschooled my kids during grade school - though I can't say it made me a math whiz. Luckily, I had an amazing math teacher in high school, which definitely helped when it came to homesc ..read more

Call for Quilt Pattern Testers
Comfy Quilts N Things

It’s that time! I have the pattern written and I’m striving to follow my instructions to assemble twin-size quilts. It’s time to start gathering together some willing volunteers. Keep in mind, I’ve only ever done this once before and it was quite some time ago. I can’t express how exciting this is! Above you can see the Jamberry fabric line by Jon Van Zyle for P & B Textiles that I used when designing the All A-Whirl Pattern. These are being reprinted for those of us shopping in Alaska! I’ve also added a few of P & B Textiles’ Serenity and Suede Basics to the mix. They help add some t ..read more

Hello again! I’M BACK!! I apologize for my absence. I know you might have thought that I had disappeared, but I am here now. There has been a lot going on in my life, and finding time to write a blog has been a challenge. Besides, the only time I had to write was while sleeping and I didn't think you would be interested in the crazy, weird dreams inside my brain. Here's a quick update on our family adventure! In early 2023, my better half underwent back surgery, which led to a challenging recovery journey. Adhering to restrictions like no bending, lifting, or twisting for 6-8 months proved to ..read more

Upstairs View Here we are in December and I did exactly what I told myself not to do it. I overbooked! I have been scrambling to finish up the projects that came with me from Hawaii. Still not finished with those. But when those previous clients need their quilts quilted up, I just can’t say no! That’s okay! I love my clients! I think I get the best people in the world! How do you like the view from my longarm? The picture above is what I get to look at while I’m quilting. We’ve had so much snow and so little above 32-degree weather that the trees are all sagging with the weight of the snow ..read more

When a Quilt Makes Your Heart Sing When a thing (whatever it may be) comes together, it makes us dance and sing! Most of the time we don't even notice it came together until it's long over. Regardless, WE DO LOVE IT! So, I was back on my feet again (Part 2 Here) I was able to move and sit and do quilty stuff! I LOVE this quilt! But, in the back of my head I kept seeing the fabric I had bought for this quilt and my brain did not love what it was seeing. Matter of fact, I knew it wasn't going to work... See that little bit of beauty in the lower right? And it does look great when all the pie ..read more

Actually, I didn’t forget! I was in full ‘write’ mode when the hubs said we had to run some errands and that went on all week. UHHHH - I have things to do! I have a thing - especially since hubs turned diabetic and we have only one truck and it doesn’t always do well - that thing is I don’t like him driving into town alone. We had some great weather and then we didn’t. There’s another reason for my ‘thing’. We had some lovely snow! Then it began to rain. And freeze. So as a result, I went with the hubs. And I didn’t get to write! THEN…I started working on a calculator for my website AND a new ..read more

Circle of Time Hi! And welcome to November! I know The Lion King comes to mind, but that isn’t what this is about! I Can’t Help It Every year we have a November and in that November we have Thanksgiving! I love Thanksgiving and the traditions that go along with them! I love thinking and planning the food, what I need to get at the grocery store and when to start what. It’s a process! When my hubs and I lived in Anchorage, AK (where I was born and grew up), we had Thanksgiving with our church family. We women would plan who would bring what. Some members had families they would spend the day wi ..read more

A Place for Breathing On

Photo by Peter Fogden on Unsplash Fresh Air, What a Blessing As long as we breathe, we can dream. And when we dream, we breathe and we feel young. Then we feel like anything is possible. Who doesn't want that? When I first started making quilts I chose to make quilts for all my favorite people (but then I already mentioned that here.) First, I needed to practice! UHG! I was just learning about what to do and how to do it. Sure, I knew how to follow a pattern. I had made clothing, after all. I could make curtains without a pattern. TRULY! One of the first things I did was buy quilting magazi ..read more

These fabrics are so gorgeous! Have Fabric, Will Cut and Sew Surely I'm not the only one of us makers that sees a swath of fabric and is immediately thinking of how to cut it up and make it into something else?   Last we talked about this quilt (To read that post click here.) I was in a drooling state over these fabrics! After receiving the fabric, it was cut up in quick order. I cut strips of each shade of fabric as indicated on the pattern and sewed strips together. With strips sets together, I cut them up again. Then more sewing! How much fun is that? I was so worried about triangles ..read more
