The focal point here is the word function. Which means purpose. Functional training can be as simple as training that has a purpose. It’s the training that is focused on the movement patterns which have a specific purpose. That goal is associated with improving everyday activities—such as walking or squatting for picking up heavier objects, pushing the revolving door, and getting up from the chair. Or developing strength for athletic sports. It’s simply the training that strengthens you in a specific way that is directly related to the activities happening outside the gym.
