Seven Hawaiian Quilts and a Dilemma – Update

Here is an update of the first quilt project. I chose the color orange for the island of Lanai. The pattern is Plumeria. I’ve already cut the pattern, and I chose a muslin fabric for the background. I don’t baste with thread. I use Roxanne’s glue for basting.  Now I am off to get started on the applique. Wish me luck all.   The post Seven Hawaiian Quilts and a Dilemma – Update appeared first on Life, Faith & Quilts ..read more

Seven Hawaiian Quilts and a Dilemma

Last week, I was asked to make a minimum of 7 lap quilts within seven months. After assessing the customer’s needs, my mind drifted off to la-la land because I couldn’t process what I was being asked to deliver. They wanted Hawaiian quilts. You may already know the process involved in making a Hawaiian quilt. If you don’t, let me be the first to tell you that it is all hand applique and hand quilting. After a few days of mulling the idea over without coming to a conclusion, I resorted to prayer – awaiting an answer on whether or not to take on this project. The major struggle was knowing that ..read more

Exciting News: Nala’s World

Every Sunday after church, I like to come home and hide out in my studio. The first thing I would do it, check emails, Instagram and Pinterest.  This is my way of getting my mind and body in a relaxed mood before sewing. As some of you know, I am a follower of @1bike1world on IG. I love seeing Dean and Nala’s journey around the world. They are currently in Serbia for a few days. Every Sunday, he will post a video of their journey. I have posted his current video. What I like about his videos is that it is not boring at all! I eww and aww throughout the video, Today though, I squealed at the su ..read more

I have been quilting now for over 20 years. I learned through trial and error over the years with no help from anyone. Did I know how to run a sewing machine? Yes! But how to cut the pieces using a rotary cutter and ruler? No! I thought I knew how to use the ruler and rotary cutter. But when I sew the pieces together, my points wouldn’t meet. *ugh* This is the most frustrating part of quilting. CUTTING! If I could hire someone to cut my pieces, I will definitely use them. No matter how long you’ve been quilting,  we always learn a new trick. Quilter’s Blogs & Websites: I am sure some of yo ..read more

[feedzy-rss feeds=”http://themeisle.com/feed” offset=”0″ feed_title=”yes” refresh=”12_hours” summary=”yes”  Over the years, I have always sewn on a Pfaff machine. What I really love about it was the IDT (Integrated Dual Transportation). I had a lot of Pfaff machines over the years, but my favorite was the Pfaff Performance 2058. To this day, I regret selling that machine. It was made for every sewer at every level. Easy, user-friendly, etc. The reason for upgrading my 2058, I wanted a machine with more throat space. I decided to get the Creative Vision 5.0. From the very first day of trying my ..read more

Running Around
Life, Faith & Quilts

Not sewing or organizing in my studio. I had a few running around to do in town. I had an early hearing aid appointment. It went well. I have to go every three months to have my device checked because of the high humidity. I’ve had my aid for two years before I had to replace it. So I am happy it is still good. I had an hour of free time before my pooch, Kappy’s grooming appointment. Off we went to Petco. Now this darn guy was perfect UNTIL I decided to walk around the mall with him to get my walking exercise in.  We were halfway around the mall before he decided to stop and do his #2!!!!!
