I am sorry it has been a few weeks since I posted. I needed to take some time for mental health and to focus on myself. I wanted to just make a quick post with some voting resources because it is super important that everyone who can vote does! We are agents of change and we can only be the change we want if we actively participate. I know it is super easy to find voting resources just by Googling, but I wanted to make it that much easier to make sure that it is accessible to as many people as possible. With that being said, here are some voting resources linked below Register to Vote! You ca ..read more

My heart hurts and goes out to all the people being effected by the California wildfires amidst this pandemic. The Sacramento Bee released a great article talking about ways in which donations of clothing, furniture and other household items can get in the way of disaster relief and how donating money to organizations is the best way to help our fellow Calif ..read more

In today’s climate it is more important than ever to be constantly educating ourselves about the social issues and injustices that are and have been happening in our communities for decades. It is important as consumers to seek information to educate ourselves on how to be better advocates for our neighbors and friends in order to live in a society where we can all feel free and comfortable to be who we are. Credit: @BrookeRothchild We weren’t sure we really wanted to celebrate the 4th of July this year, it just feels a bit wrong. That said, it is still a beautiful day for a refreshing iced drink. We made a few different beverages with various combinations of the ingredients below (one of which you may have noticed just so happens to be red, white, and blue). Juicy summer strawberry compote is combined with tart homemade lemonade and refreshing Thai Butterfly Pea Flower Tea to make this a slightly sweet and just tart enough drink. It’s light, not too sugary, and notably day-drinkable. Go for a who ..read more

The Sacramento food scene would not be where it is today without the contributions made by these businesses! Lists of black-owned restaurants have been popping up on social media as our community looks to support our fellow community members during this time. The Sacramento Bee put out a comprehensive list of over 40 black-owned restaurants and coffee shops in the greater Sacramento area. I wanted to showcase a few of these businesses and give them the recognition they deserve! At the beginning of January I challenged myself to get back into reading for personal pleasure and when all the social distancing protocols got put into place I thought this could not be better timing to unplug and read! I started reading some self help/self reflection books because I believe that we can never stop growing and learning about ourselves emotionally as well as emotional awareness is something that is not focused on in school but extremely important. Here are three books I have read during quarantine that I wanted to share with you all! A fun and entertaining read, Jen Sincero ha ..read more

Three of which I’m very excited about: dining in at restaurants, retail and shops opening up, and the reopening of art galleries and museums. Having said all that, I will still be wearing a mask and taking other precautions and I recommend you do too. Now on to the new and exciting things happening in Sac.
