Have you felt frustrated with work, the day, just life in general. One thing could make an entire day go wrong. A chance remark from someone that rubbed you the wrong way, one project that just won’t work the way you want it to, one article that doesn’t bring out your ideas coherently or a job that you’re not able to land. I know I have. Hard times are the best teachers and this is what I’ve learnt. Live center stage instead of watching from the sidelines: When you decide to get into the thick of things, create something, try something you’ve never done before or even go about your regular li ..read more

People called them, “the cockroaches of the ocean”, “trash food”. This creature’s shells scattered by a house was looked upon as signs of poverty and degradation. Rumor has it, after a revolt, the colony was forced to sign contracts promising that indentured servants wouldn’t be fed this food for more than three times a week. Would you be surprised if I say, I’m talking about the lobster? It’s true. Lobster is one heck of a social climber. In the early days, lobsters were so abundant, that they would wash up on the shore and pile up to two feet high. It was considered prison food and poor man ..read more

A man saw a horse furiously galloping down the road. He was intrigued. “Where are you going?” he yelled from the side of the road. And the man on the horse replied, “I don’t know! Ask the horse!” This story resonated with me because most of us spend our lives being pulled around by our mind horse, losing track of where or why we are going somewhere. We are either traumatized by where the horse had been or worried about where the horse would go. Wouldn’t it be much better if we can take the reins of the horse and steer it the way and pace we want it. Wouldn’t it be a much pleasant journey than ..read more

All of us experience the same frustration. We want to change our life for the better. But where do we start? Habits are important. It’s an acknowledged fact. BUT for that we need the willpower. That’s a lot easier said than done. I’d rather have that candy bar RIGHT NOW, than fit into that swanky pants a far away six months later. So, how do we harness that elusive, slippery willpower? Turns out, we have to sneak in that stuff. Grab it by the tail and slowly rope it in, trick by trick. Good news. It’s not hard as it sounds. Take Rachel for example.. Rachel’s battered old car broke down, right ..read more

In many ways, 2020 has been an unforgettable year. Personally for me, it also holds an important milestone, the birth of this blog. I’m being totally honest when I say this blog was born out of a very selfish part of me. I had entered a very unmotivated part of my life and was in search of the motivation and the spark to keep pushing forward. This blog has been a way to find that spark. On my journey, if I had managed to inspire even a single person to think from a different perspective or been a comfort even for a short while, I would consider my blog a major success. The one reason that made ..read more

Where do ideas comes from? That’s a tough question, a profound one. While the mystery of where ideas come from might never be solved, there’s a ridiculously simple way of unlocking them. A proven one too. One, many of the creative geniuses have used time and time again. One backed up by science. A walk. Yes. It’s as simple as that. Life’s best things are often the simplest and this is no exception. I can personally attest to the power of walking. A quiet evening walk or a walk around my home, in between rooms has proved to be the best problem solver there is. I’ve had my most brilliant ideas ..read more

The only thing ordinary about the Sukiyabashi Jiro Sushi restaurant is it’s looks. Located in the underground corridor near a Tokyo subway station, with the capacity to seat only 10 people at a time, it is renowned as the best Sushi restaurant in the world. Jiro Ono the owner of Sukiyabashi Jiro, is the genius behind the fame of this unassuming restaurant. Jiro Ono started working in a local restaurant at the age of 7, when he was barely a first grader. Just two years later, he left home to Tokyo to study as an apprentice. And since then he has worked on making Sushi every single day of his ..read more

My desire to simplify and organize my life in better ways didn’t come to me in an ‘AHA’ moment or as an inspiration. Rather, it came in as a feeling of necessity from being an overwhelmed mom trying to hold on to my sanity. My kids are well, kids. They get into stuff, scatter them around, create messes and live life gloriously. While one part of me is glad they are curious kids brimming with energy and creativity, the other part resents the endless cleaning and picking up. I realized all the stuff and disorganized clutter was draining me and kept me at the edge of my temper at all times. More ..read more
