NJPW and Willow Nightingale made a show for the history books.
Sunday, at NJPW Resurgence, New Japan Pro Wrestling crowned the first ever NJPW Strong Women’s Champion—Willow Nightingale.
The winner was decided through a one-night tournament consisting of two first round matches and one final match. In the first round, Mercedes Moné faced Stephanie Vaquer and Momo Kohgo faced Willow Nightingale.
Moné moved to final round by beating Vaquer and Nightingale defeated Kohgo to make it to the final match. In the end, Nightingale toppled Moné to become the inaugural champ.

Pro-Wrestling: EVE is spending the weekend hailing queens of women’s wrestling.
On Friday and Saturday, May 5 and 6, EVE will hold a two-night event titled EVE Lucky 13: All Hail The Queens at The Dome in London.
In true EVE fashion, the line-up features women from the UK, US, and Japan—hosting veterans, up-and-comers, fan favorites, and debuting of women’s wrestling. The card is indicative of what we love about EVE: skilled wrestling mixed with fun shenanigans, a mixed group with differing years of experience, and a hot crowd.

New Japan Pro Wrestling is once again celebrating women’s wrestling in a big way.
Thursday evening, NJPW announced there would be a one-night tournament to crown the inaugural NJPW Strong Women’s Champion featuring women from CMLL, AEW, and Stardom, along with Mercedes Moné. The tournament will take place at NJPW Strong Resurgence 2023 on May 21.

Taya Valkyrie is the newest addition to the AEW women’s division.
During tonight’s “AEW Dynamite”, live from Winnipeg, Canadian native Taya Valkyrie arrived to the ring to confront Jade Cargill after she issued an open challenge for her TBS Championship. Shortly after, it was announced Valkyrie is the newest member of the AEW women’s division.

KiLynn King is joining one of the best women’s wrestling divisions around.
On Wednesday, while on Wrestling News Co.’s “Ten Count”, KiLynn King confirmed with host Steve Fall that she has signed with IMPACT Wrestling.
When Fall asked how she feels joining the Knockouts Division, King shared how she knew it was just a matter of time before a promotion stepped up.

Math is universal; it’s a universal language. As such, statistics exist as irrefutable data. When done correctly and accurately, when it comes to comparison and communication, the numbers don’t lie. Stats serve as a way to compare group A to group B, and in the case of women’s wrestling, it compares promotion A to promotion B.
