I've been away a long time and don't have much to show for it. I finally got the rows of this quilt sewn together but have to get it finished. For goodness sakes its 95% done! I will not be quilting it, my friends Carolyn and Jamie will be asked to perform the magic. The patterns are by Lori Holt from Bee In My Bonnet and it was a sew along last summer. I love the blocks but was tired of them once they were done. Now I am excited to have it be a quilt. I also kept up and finished my block of the month, Anna's Baskets by Laundry Basket Quilts. I need to get my back ready to have t ..read more

First of all I am sorry for the bad pictures, we are in the midst of rain turning to ice later today.  This was a quilt that did not start out as a Valentine quilt but turned into one! I was thinking more "Home is where the heart is" But I think the pink made it more Valentineish. Is that even a word? Picking out just the perfect fabric is a labor of love. Checks are always a "yes" in my book. The hearts were simple to make, I am sure you can figure them out just by looking at them. I used easy corners at the top and bottom and made the length the size of the house blocks ..read more

I'm ending the year in the pink! This will be a baby quilt that I hope to finish it this weekend. Sorry the pictures are so dark, it is a gloomy day here. I love this background print that is from a collection called Grace from MODA and the designer is Benda Riddle. I thought it was so sweet and very girly. I got it at the Old Country Store in Intercourse PA. To continue with my pink theme I am doing some school house blocks. This is a pattern I have always wanted to do. It is in the latest issue of American Patchwork & Quilting, they have a paper piece pattern to make th ..read more

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas! It tool forever to get this picture and still Pippy turned her head exactly 2 seconds before it went off! She is always holding her little brother's hand! It was interesting to hear everyone's thoughts on how I should set this. I need to make a decision because if I go on point I have to make triangle blocks to fill in around the edges. I will do a tutorial after the holidays on how I am appliqueing these together. You will not believe how easy it is! Carol from Texas, your comment made my day! I am so happy to inspire you, I could not reply by e ..read more

I know it has been a long time since I posted. All I can say is life is busy! I am so irritated with Blogger, it loaded all my pictures backwards but I am just going with it. I am participating in a doll quilt swap on Instagram for 2022. Since I took these pictures the center applique is complete and almost all put together. I am actually thinking of HAND QUILTING it!!! We'll see.. I wanted to get a jump on it because you know, life gets busy. If you like to give books as gifts, I totally recommend this one. I love her ideas and her simple yet elegant ways. Check it out you will not ..read more

I enjoyed making this little mini quilt today. I may even hand quilt it, what do you think? The Pattern is called Olde Glory by Temecula Quilts. It is a free pattern that you can find on the internet. I don't have a link to share with you. I feel like a squirrel jumping from thing to thing. My sewing was a bit limited this summer and now I want to make it all! I love Fig Tree & Co. Last fall I bought this entire kit with my friend Stephanie. If you have ever wanted to do a kit, I recommend any of theirs! You get ample fabric so you don't have to worry about cutting something wrong ..read more

Our newest grandson, Rory is here! He is as sweet as can be and his sisters and brother are in love with him. He was born in June and I am a bad mom-mom for taking so long to post these pictures. In my defense I have been a little busy helping out. He made his appearance 12 days early which surprised us all! Babies on quilts is one of my favorite hashtags on Instagram! I usually make my quilts on the smaller side so that kids can drag them around once they get older. The stars are a dark navy blue and I love a striped binding! For those of you that have followed me for a wh ..read more

I have been very bad about blogging. I was surprised to see it has been almost 3 months. Time is slipping away. I went to our local Bernina dealer, Hinkletown Sewing to get a new foot for my machine. I saw this bag behind the counter and asked if I could have one. How cool is this!? I love how the handle for the bag is the handle for the machine. I did a swap this spring with During Quiet Time with her book, Petals and Stems. The idea was to make a top and bottom but don't sew them together so you can mix and match the stems. See how you can switch them out? So fun! The bac ..read more

I have been having such a good time sewing up these little blocks. They are small, 3" finished and they are paper pieced. If you are interested in doing these you can find them here Sentimental Stitches. There are 365 blocks, you receive 7 per week for the entire year! It closes on Thursday so hurry if you are interested. My guild finished our Sampler Sew Along. It was a fun 10 month project and I think everyone that participated enjoyed it. Here is one of the blocks that I fussy cut. As you can see my color selections included all solids with low volumes for the backgrounds. I ..read more

Cold Winter Day

Winter and a pandemic can be a dangerous thing! I'm talking about shopping!!! I love this Alison Glass fabric. It's such a good basic and I love the mini cross stitches. I think this would be a good substitute for a solid that would give it some texture. Marcia, Marcia, Marcia! Yes Maureen McCormick from the Brady Bunch has a line of fabric out and it definitely has a 1970's vibe. These are the only 3 I got but you never know...... This is one of my first finishes for the year. I am planning on making a series of doll quilts. Why? First of all I am running out of room for all my ..read more
