Gogh See This!
If I asked you to come with me and see a Van Gogh exhibit, I am sure your first response would be “I’ve seen all his paintings”. Café Nuit, Starry Night, the sunflowers, been there, done that. I agree.
What if I told you there is an amazing new Van Gogh exhibit, the likes your eyes, ears, nose, and imagination have never seen? Ah, I piqued your curiosity. What do ears have to do with Van Gogh besides an occasional reference to the “incident” you ask? Come. Let’s explore the Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit to find the answers to these mysterious questions.

At a time when everyone is focusing on keeping their home clean and germ free, I thought I would share some natural and safer homemade cleaning products.
Many of the common household cleaners used today are filled with many toxic chemicals known to cause cancer and have many harmful effects. A few years back I really tried to cut out all chemicals from my home cleaning and tried to find natural and safer alternatives.
Surprisingly it was quite easy to swap out these chemical laden products for great and easy alternatives.
I have put together some of my favorite ingredients that serve multip ..read more

A Little Town in the Heart of the Big City
Local mom and pop stores, tiny ice cream shops, quaint little boutiques, fresh vegetable markets, you would think I was talking about a small mid-western town. Au contraire, I am talking about Williamsburg, located in the most populous county of New York called “Kings County” or as we all know it, Brooklyn. Williamsburg, Brooklyn has more in common with small-town U.S.A. than you think.

On the lighter side of things
If you are reading this you are probably under the same quarantine or shelter in place protocol as we are. In this serious time, I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to share some lighter themed material…Just for laughs!
As I was going through some pictures of our journeys in Hungary I remembered making a collection of quirky or confusing signs, advertisements, and other oddities the country of Hungary so gratuitously offers. That is why I love this country so much! Her quirkiness is what makes her unique.

As flu season continues, we are all trying to stay sane, but more importantly healthy. Today we will take a look at the importance of salt, water and hydration.
Table Salt vs Sea Salt
As a child, I remember being always told salt is no good for you. This is true if we are talking about table salt, which is stripped of all its essential minerals. Table salt is 99% sodium chloride and if consumed in high doses, can be bad for your heart and for your blood pressure. The imbalance of sodium chloride with no other trace minerals is what makes table salt harmful to the body. We need to ingest sodi ..read more

Benefits of Natural Remedies
With Flu season and the elephant in the room, otherwise known as the Coronavirus, upon us, we thought it apt to share some natural remedies for a cough/sore throat. Like most of us, you probably have run into the empty shelves in the supermarket especially for things like vitamins and Lysol. Luckily there are so many natural alternatives that are at our disposal (and free of chemicals).
Over the years we have implemented many of these natural remedies into our household to help fight everything from a headache to the flu. Disclaimer. We are not doctors! We are on ..read more

Cabin Fever
As we spent our days on Lake Balaton, the quiet country life was beginning to make our kids stir crazy. Having spent the good portion of the last year living in a city environment in Barcelona, we were thrust into the village life due to certain circumstances that had transpired. For us, it was a welcomed respite from the hustle and bustle of the city. For the children, however…
We decided to get into the family vehicle (hoping and praying it would get us to our destination) and spend a laid-back day in Budapest.

Life on Lake Balaton continues…
A funny thing happened on the way to dinner
A funny thing happened the other day as I was making dinner. While I was cutting these rather small onions preparing for our meal, I began to cry. Not because of an emotional outburst, but because the onions were so potent. I don’t remember the last time this happened.
The taste of the onion was just as strong as the smell. As I began compiling the ingredients I noticed the yolk of the eggs I was mixing were brighter, the taste of the peppers were, well, peppier. Being surrounded by these great fresh smelling ingred ..read more

Life on Lake Balaton continues in Tihany…
Tihany calls you from a Distance
When you find yourself at Balatonföldvár and you are lucky enough to be standing on the beautiful path along Lake Balaton, you can’t help but notice the little hilly peninsula jutting out into the lake. The hill is scattered with a potpourri of the famous red roofs that are so common in this region. This is the village of Tihany and where our excursion took place for the day. And so continues life on Lake Balaton…
