May’s Full Flower Moon 2024 – Blessed Abundance
The Gypsy Thread

May’s Full Flower Moon for 2024 will be at its peak on May 23rd at 7:55 AM, MST. It is the second full moon of the Spring, and the first after Beltane. The flower moon is appropriately named, as the early part of May is when the many dozens of wildflower species begin to bloom, bathing the landscape in a rich blanket of color. Officially, the name is credited to the Algonquin tribe. It is also known as the Hare Moon, the Corn Planting Moon, the Budding Moon or Leaf Budding Moon, the Bright Moon, the Blessing Moon and the Milk Moon. Other names are the Planting Moon, Frog Moon, Egg Laying Moon ..read more

March’s Full Worm Moon, 2024

The Full Worm Moon will peak on March 25th, 1:01 AM, MST – The name, Worm Moon, dates back to Native Americans, who would name each full moon by an event or phenomena which occurred during that time period. In the month of March, as the snow began melting, insects and beetles would begin moving, leaving winding tracks across the damp soil, which resembled worms moving across the ground. Other, less-known names for this month’s moon had an association with spring. One other name was the Crow Moon, as cawing crows signaled the end of winter.  Another was the Crust Moon. In 2024, Ostara, the long-awaited spring equinox, falls on March 19th. On this glorious day, all things will be in balance and the day and night will be equal at 9:07 PM, MST. We expect a highly energetic night, due to the waxing Worm Moon, and the forthcoming Penumbral Eclipse (Eclipse Begins, Mar 24th 10:53:16 PM, Eclipse Peak, March 25th 1:12:51 AM, Eclipse Ends, March 25th 3:32:27 AM.) Each year on our journey around the Great Wheel, we celebrate eight key holidays, or Sabbats. Ostara is one of the oldest ones, with it’s origins in Celtic, Anglo-Saxon and Germanic practices. Snow Moon Ritual for February, 2024 – Moving Forward
The Gypsy Thread

The Full Snow Moon will be at peak on Saturday, February 24th,2024 at 5:31 AM, (MST). When a full moon peak occurs very early in the morning, we see some of our followers holding their ritual the night prior, which is completely fine. There’s no ‘one way’ to do things in the pagan world. You may notice the full moon appears slightly smaller than usual. Its because this month’s full moon is a micromoon; think opposite of a supermoon. Simplified, it means this month’s moon is at its furthest point away from earth, rather than it’s closest, due to its elliptical orbit. The lunar energy will stil ..read more

Solo Ritual for the January, 2024 Full Wolf Moon
The Gypsy Thread

With Imbolc just a week away, most groups are unlikely to hold a group ritual to celebrate the Full Wolf Moon this year. What I’ve done is put together a short solo ritual, which provides everyone the means to do their monthly cleansing & clearing. At 10:54 AM on January 25th (MST) the Full Wolf Moon will peak. This moon name, like most of the other months names, comes from the Native American tribes. With heavy snow on the ground, freezing winds blowing, and the air thin and cold, the howling of hungry wolves could be heard for many miles. Some of the other names for the January full moo ..read more

Imbolc 2024 – The Great Awakening

Imbolc (Imbolg), celebrated on February 1st, is one of the oldest celebrations in the world, rich in tradition, ceremony, and lore. From a laypersons aspect, Imbolc marks the halfway point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. It’s origins are Celtic, evidenced by its mention in several ancient Irish manuscripts. This word Imbolc, has been debated by scholars, with most agreeing that it translates loosely to ‘in the belly.’ This makes sense, since those ancestors were herders, and pregnant ewes were common at this time of the year. It was a very important annual event, one of th ..read more

Hoia Baciu Forest – Bermuda Triangle of Transylvania
The Gypsy Thread

The Hoia Baciu forest can be found in the heart of Transylvania, Romania, near the city of Cluj. From a distance, the Hoia Baciu is unimpressive, being a mere 729 acres (1.14 miles square). Yet upon closer inspection, this dense area is nothing short of notorious, dark and foreboding. The forest is considered to be the most haunted forest in the world, and for a litany of reasons. The historical record of the area is limited. Evidence has been discovered of an early Neolithic settlement (6500 BCE) in the area, part of the Starčevo–Kőrös–Criș culture, which is the earliest documented evidence ..read more

The Sayers speak of urban legends Other cite a cautionary tale What to say of black eyed children… When explanation comes up empty And witness sightings more than plenty Things out there we’ve stigmatized Such as youth with soulless eyes These hellish children dredge up fear When all at once they just appear Shadows blurred on darkened nights These black eyed children set their sights Devoid of life, don’t seem to breathe But get too close, and then you’ll see Skin so pale, much like the dead Their soulless eyes just stare ahead When black eyed children roam the night Salvation found by takin ..read more
