Easter Sunday – March 31, 2024: Alleluia, Christ is Risen!  He is risen indeed.  Alleluia!  Amen. Well, that’s a really strange ending to this gospel’s resurrection narrative!  Is it any wonder why later scribes added a tweak or two to the ending?  Just look at that last part, where it says that Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome “…went out and fled from the tomb, for terror and amazement had seized them; and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.” Now – that’s a bit of a problem, right? Good Friday-March 29, 2024: May God’s words be spoken, may God’s words be heard.  Amen. Two of our adult parishioners are going to be presented to the Bishop at the May 11th service.  Carol Madden will be confirmed and Ann Watson will be received.  The service is at Calvary Episcopal Church in Summit at 10am.  Attendees are limited to close family and friends, but we will celebrate Ann and Carol at our service and coffee hour Sunday, May 11th. Palm Sunday – March 24, 2024: “Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!”  Amen. Just a reminder, as I say every year, this should be only Palm Sunday.  The passion should not be read here – on Palm Sunday where it really doesn’t belong.  Some say that we have always done it that way (meaning it was done that way in their memory).  Maybe so, in the Episcopal Church anyway. During Eastertide, Mother Diana will lead a five part series on The Gospel of Mark as Story.  The title comes from the text we will use, authored by David Rhoads, Joanna Dewey, and Donald Michie.
