As I made this crochet modern granny blanket, I felt like I was creating a series of triangles nestled in between each other which to me gave the blanket a modern feel. Either way, this works up fast and is fun to memorize and easily pick up where you left off. This is one of my favorite classic crochet patterns. I’ve been wanting to round up ALL the chevron, ripple, wave and zig zag patterns I could find on the Yarnspirations website! I had to stop myself at 50! There were so many classics and modern ones to choose from.  I have a work in progress currently of a ripple blanket in soft beachy tones to accompany the book *THE POUT POUT FISH, as a gift for my latest nephew and that’s what prompted my search.  Ripples and waves work so well with an ocean-themed baby blanket. I’m a crochet grandma and I love every minute of it! I know you all can relate to how fun it is to make for the grandbabies. I was so excited to fly into town for Nora’s blessing day, and also dress her up in this little top. Well, we’ve decided baby Nora cannot have too many baby blankets made with Bernat Softee Cotton. Hannah loves using them for her and we love making them for her!  This pattern is our Simple Ripple pattern we published years ago. It was one of the first baby blankets I made when I really got back into crocheting. My youngest sister Natalee was having her sixth baby, (and last) and I chose to make her a ripple.  A ripple blanket differs from a chevron in that its peaks and valleys are less pronounced. Hello there! I’ve made a little shrug for my granddaughter Kate with a pattern for the squares from Yarnspirations.com. It’s a new pattern they published a few weeks ago that I fell in love with!  It is called the Red Heart Field of Daisies Crochet Blanket Pattern  And, here’s a photo of the blanket you can make from this pattern. It is made with the classic mesh stitch, which is a simple repeat of single crochet and chain one.
