My sister Cyndi, aka Sugar Joye, has knocked it out of the park again with this beautiful blanket! She wanted to make her niece Angela a gorgeous wedding gift, and I think she did a wonderful job.  Cyndi has absolutely fallen in love with the Ribbed V-Stitch blanket pattern I made for baby Nora. (You can see that HERE and HERE.) That blanket pattern has really inspired her to create with colors, and now with more texture.  The added flat textured stripes make the rows of the ribbed V-stitch look stunning! What I also love about the ribbed V-stitch, is the easy way the rows are cons ..read more

Crochet Modern Granny Blanket in Peach and Blue

As I made this crochet modern granny blanket, I felt like I was creating a series of triangles nestled in between each other which to me gave the blanket a modern feel. Either way, this works up fast and is fun to memorize and easily pick up where you left off. This is one of my favorite classic crochet patterns. It is similar to a granny blanket since there are three double crochets worked together, but in this blanket, in the next row, you are stacking the “grannies” on top of one another.  I have made this blanket several times, with different color schemes and different borders. They ..read more

50 Free Crochet Chevron, Ripple, Wave, and Zig Zag Blanket Pattern Roundup

I’ve been wanting to round up ALL the chevron, ripple, wave and zig zag patterns I could find on the Yarnspirations website! I had to stop myself at 50! There were so many classics and modern ones to choose from.  I have a work in progress currently of a ripple blanket in soft beachy tones to accompany the book *THE POUT POUT FISH, as a gift for my latest nephew and that’s what prompted my search.  Ripples and waves work so well with an ocean-themed baby blanket. I can’t wait to show you which pattern I chose.  I also love Chevrons for sports-themed blankets, or High School Gra ..read more

Crochet Baby Flower Top

I’m a crochet grandma and I love every minute of it! I know you all can relate to how fun it is to make for the grandbabies. I was so excited to fly into town for Nora’s blessing day, and also dress her up in this little top. I thought it would be a little big on her, but she surprised me by growing so much in the past few weeks.  I made this following the 6 month pattern, and I really could have followed 9 months, just to give her more time to wear it a few more times. Nora is almost 3 months old in this photo. We are big people though, I’m 5’11 and Hannah is 6 foot, so I think Nora is ..read more

Crochet Mock Weave Throw-Ribbed V-Stitch

For the past year and a half, I’ve been teaching my sister Cyndi to crochet. It has been so fun to watch her learn how to crochet and then get so creative with what she has learned.  I have to share with you all this gorgeous blanket she made from the Ribbed V-Stitch pattern! I love the way she used color to create this look. Here’s the original Ribbed V-Stitch pattern that I made for baby Nora out of Bernat Baby Velvet:  I encouraged Cyndi to try the pattern out as I felt like it was a great beginner pattern that didn’t require a border, and looks more complicated than it actually ..read more

Crochet Back Loop Simple Ripple Baby Blanket
Daisy Farm Crafts

Well, we’ve decided baby Nora cannot have too many baby blankets made with Bernat Softee Cotton. Hannah loves using them for her and we love making them for her!  This pattern is our Simple Ripple pattern we published years ago. It was one of the first baby blankets I made when I really got back into crocheting. My youngest sister Natalee was having her sixth baby, (and last) and I chose to make her a ripple.  A ripple blanket differs from a chevron in that its peaks and valleys are less pronounced. Also, ripples are generally made with double crochet. That smooths out the peaks to ..read more

Hello there! I’ve made a little shrug for my granddaughter Kate with a pattern for the squares from Yarnspirations.com. It’s a new pattern they published a few weeks ago that I fell in love with!  It is called the Red Heart Field of Daisies Crochet Blanket Pattern  And, here’s a photo of the blanket you can make from this pattern. They are the cutest and easiest squares to crochet and I’ll show you how in a video that is linked at the end of this post.  But let me back up and show you a photo of baby Kate in a granny square shrug I made her for Easter. This is a photo I shared ..read more

Crochet Striped Mesh Stitch Blanket

This beautiful blanket was made by me almost seven years ago and is still one of my favorite designs. It is made with the classic mesh stitch, which is a simple repeat of single crochet and chain one. The shell border just adds the finishing touch.  I’m re-sharing this pattern today because somehow a lot of spam crochet accounts on Facebook have shared this photo of this blanket without sharing a link to the pattern. I’ve done my best to get the pattern to as many people as I can, but decided to just re-share it here on our site so it is on the front page and easy for people to find.&nbs ..read more
