Winning the Year with Kindness, Compassion & Determination
Voices On A Path

Hello everyone, I thought it would be a good time to talk briefly about the pressure to perform in January, and how we can replace that with a kind determination to succeed i.e. one that is stubborn in its refusal to give back, but doesn’t try to push you with negative self-talk, but is kind and encouraging instead. Listen below ! (Very rough) Transcript below for those who would rather read. January is hard because we have high expectations of ourselves for the new year and very little compassion, most of the time. We feel guilty because we already failed to stick to the new years resolution ..read more

Is it useful ?
Voices On A Path

Before you speak (or write), it is important to ask yourself this question. I struggle to do this most of the time. However, I hope that now that I’m writing about it, I’ll be forced to be more accountable to myself. And to you. The thing is that I talk so much that the words just roll out. Afterwards, I’m wondering why I said what I said at all. This is especially true when I have just completed a bout of complaints - a habit of which I am still trying to rid myself.   Is it useful?   This is one question that you should ask before your words hang useless, and maybe even destructive ..read more

Is it ever too late?
Voices On A Path

Happy #truthThursday! and welcome to the month of August.  Sometimes we give up on our efforts because it appears as though it is too late and there is nothing we can do to make up for the lost time. I wondered if we can ever truly say that it is too late to achieve what we want to achieve. Here's what my friend's within had to say.  The answer to this question is a decision that you make and not a pronouncement by anybody. The moment you give up on getting or achieving something is the exact moment it becomes too late/impossible for you to do it.  Not a moment before.  The ..read more

Insecurity and Self-Approval
Voices On A Path

I saw my insecurity when I noticed how often I wanted to interject myself into the praise someone else is receiving.   It is a hard thing to see in yourself- the inability to be completely happy for someone else either because you are partly occupied with asserting what role you had to play in the object of the person’s success or thinking about how you too could have done it. The reason for this difficulty has to do with the realisation that you are insecure. You are insecure, not because you can’t fully be happy for someone. You are fully happy for that person. Only you aren’t able to f ..read more

In Gratitude For All
Voices On A Path

Hello Friends, Today's post is about learning to see every situation as an opportunity and to be grateful in all. I have to be honest and say I am guilty of not always following that piece of advice. However, it is good to have an awareness of it so that we can learn gratitude at all times and eventually see fewer problems and more opportunities. I thought to myself that we need not lament, saying, "God put me in this dark place." Then I wondered to myself, "Hmmm, If we can't blame God when we don't like our situation, then why do we have to thank Him when we do?" Then that's when it came to ..read more

In Control
Voices On A Path

Happy Truth Thursday! What does it really mean to be in control? You should strive to be in control of yourself first and in doing so, you become a master of your environment, gaining respect from all those around you- seen and unseen. What is the significance of being in control? To be in control does not mean that you can plan or control anything in the sense that most people see it. To be in control means that in every moment your true desires for yourself are consistent with your thoughts, words and deeds It means that you are not attached to a particular route for getting to your destin ..read more

Dear Friends, How are you doing ? I am doing very well thank you, in case you were also wondering. After my realisation last week that I have lots with which to occupy my time, I sort of froze. Am I deceiving myself ? Should I be doing something else instead ? I also had many visits from the ubiquitous doubt that tends to rear its face anytime we decide to go along with our highest desires. Today, I’d like to talk about how I am trying to approach going ahead in the direction of my desires anyway. THE GOLDEN RULE The first thing, which I am most guilty of not following, is - keep it to yoursel ..read more

How Much Do You Have?
Voices On A Path

This post started out with my feeling as though I wasn't doing enough to move forward with my life. In the course of writing it, I realised perhaps the problem is not so much that I am not doing enough, but that I am not recognising my efforts enough. This is part of the reason I started 'done lists'. To help me celebrate all that I had done throughout the day - to keep me grateful and aware of the progress I am making each day. I am guilty of sometimes letting items on my 'done' lists turn partially to 'to-do's. So this was a good reminder to keep me in check. Hope it is a good reminder for y ..read more

How Do I Discover Myself?
Voices On A Path

Patience Love And most importantly, not being afraid to be wrong You have heard it said that mistakes are part of life. Mistakes create you as much as your successes do. The impediment to self-discovery and awareness is the refusal to accept this fact. It is not that you should go looking to make mistakes, but that fear of making mistakes is not what should hold you back from doing what you think you want to do. Because that is the thing. Sometimes you just don't know. You have a hunch, an idea, an inkling that this thing is what you want to do or be, however until you try, it is mostly pur ..read more

Hello Friends and Happy Truth Thursday, Today I want to share with you a quote I dug up from one of my notes. It's a really powerful way to live and view life. It'll be worth spending some time reflecting on it: "He has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often and loved much;   Who has enjoyed the trust of women, the respect of intelligent men and the love of   little children   Who has filled his niche and accomplished his task;   Who has never lacked appreciation of Earth's beauty or failed to express it;   Who has left the world better than he found i ..read more
