Real Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. [1 John 4:8] Pure And the words of the Lord are flawless, like silver purified in a crucible, like gold refined seven times. [Psalm 12:6] Sacrificial But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. [Romans 5:8] Powerful There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. [I John 4:18] Everlasting The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you ..read more

The words of (no) thanksgiving

Prayers to God. I was standing in a room filled with people who share a love for God. People were singing in unison the word to Travis Greene’s song, “Just want you.” As people harmonized, “take everything. I don’t want it. I don’t need it, God. I just want you,” I began to laugh. My reaction caught me by surprise because it felt inappropriate to laugh during such a beautiful song. I quickly looked around me, and then I allowed the thoughts to consume me as I recalled the many times I had sung these lyrics carelessly. “Take everything. I don’t want it. I don’t need it, God. Blessings on Blessings! These past six weeks writing about “God’s Truth” has been a blessing to me and hopefully to you as well. I am honored that God would continue to freely impart His knowledge to us even when we’re so stubborn. Some people will read this series and be convicted by the Holy Spirit on ways they should change. Several people will act upon such conviction, while others will choose not to. My advice is to act upon what you receive from God because you will be blessed. You will know that what you receive is from God when it doesn’t hurt people and feed your selfish desires— i ..read more

After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread. Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written: “He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.” Jesus an ..read more

The mystery of the truth

For many of us, the knowledge of what is true and what is untrue came from our families, our communities, and perhaps our own experiences and studies. Because we often trust the people, systems, and experiences from which we gained the knowledge of the truth, we hardly think to question the truth. After all, how can the truth be but true? I once observed that when someone tells a lie for a while and finds people to believe in that lie, eventually that lie can become accepted as “truth.” You may have observed such a scenario in your own life, family, etc. What are some things that started as ..read more

“Just google it!” What do you do when you do not understand something? Hopefully, you at least research it. Many experts have emerged out of Google University, myself included. A year ago, I started this blog with only the knowledge I had gained from google. Nowadays, information is at our fingertips. Anyone can learn how to do anything with some level of proficiency by looking up resources on the internet.  Occasionally, when I make an effort to practice gratitude, I thank the generations before me for making certain things possible for my generation. I, especially, thank them for making i ..read more

“Grace is not Dead!” God’s grace illustrated through a human interaction

Not too long ago, I was on the bus heading to work when the Holy Spirit illustrated God’s grace to me. I hope that my recollection of this event would also demonstrate to you God’s grace and with that, you can begin to see God’s grace in different areas of your life and in the world. It all started when I decided to take a different route to work. Typically, I commute to work either by driving or taking the bus. That day, I took a different bus. Little did I know; the Holy Spirit would use this bus ride to show me God’s grace through human interaction. I ambled along the sidewalk to the ..read more
