Footage shows the moment a man and his two dogs were hoisted to safety by a US Coast Guard (USCG) helicopter off the Oregon coast after their boat started to sink. The Pacific Northwest division of the agency says its rescue teams responded to reports about a boat that had lost power and was taking on water around 38nm off Whaleshead Beach in Oregon, near the border with California. Rescuers used a helicopter hoist to retrieve the man and two dogs. The individual was then transferred to local emergency medical services. Japanese engine maker IHI Corp. has admitted that a subsidiary has falsified fuel efficiency data for 4,215 marine engines, spanning 58 models. 2,621 have been shipped overseas. And 1,594 are in use in the Japanese domestic market. The company is firmly in the centre of a data scandal. L’Aquaphile has announced the launch of its Pedayak Solar. This is described as a hybrid pedal kayak with electric drive, powered by solar panels. The Palma International Boat Show 2024 (PIBS) opened its doors this morning, marking the 40th anniversary of the annual Spanish boat show. PIBS kicks off the Med show season and runs from today until 28 April 2024 in Palma’s Moll Vell, on the island of Mallorca. A record 295 exhibitors will be participating in this year’s event, an increase of 24 companies compared to the previous edition.
