Caitlin Clark vs Angel Reese? Did America Win?

Two outstanding athletes with a high drive to win, trash talk, and celebrate big have been pitted against each other—one Black, one White. Again. Last year, when these two faced off in the national championship game and Reese and the LSU Tigers won, there was a moment where Angel Reese looked at Clark and pointed to her finger, indicating she was getting a championship ring. She then also did the “you can’t see me” John Cena hand gesture to her a couple times as the game was coming to a close. Man. The comments on ESPN and Bleacher Report were wildly different. Reese was called: classless, gh ..read more

Inconvenience & Uncomfortability Comes Before Love

Disclaimer: Uncomfortability has mixed reviews on whether or not it’s a real word but we all know what I’m saying. A few weeks ago, we saw the reversal of the Roe v. Wade decision. You’ve seen it all over your timeline. A strong controversial decision that has many digging their heels in and standing their ground. So much so that I’ve seen friends and family splitting. Vowing to never be friends again or to not visit during Christmas. I’ve seen so many posts in the last 48 hours with simple comments of “unfriend me now” or “before I unfriend you, I just want you to know _____.” Simply because ..read more

Ahmaud, America, And Acknowledgement.

Today was a weird day. I anxiously watched the live viewing of the Arbery final verdict from Twitter. Holding my breath, hoping that the justice system works for this family. I feel like the last four years have been full of watching videos of injustices against Black people, reposting it on social media, receiving silence/pushback from my followers, and waiting a year or so to hear a verdict that doesn’t serve justice. Yesterday was different. The three men were found guilty and are facing federal charges as well. I was able to let out a sigh of relief and gratitude. But the fact that I’m eve ..read more

We, the children of your love, mercy, grace, and sacrifice, in order to form a more perfect reflection of your image, establish that we will prioritize equality because it is a priority in your heart. Embrace peace, fully from your Word, and not our relative “truth”. Take up our full armor of God to fight against the schemes of Satan. Establish that equality will be a priority for all people because your Son sought that in His 33 years of life. And we will fight to secure the blessings of liberty and freedom for each of your children without limitations. Followers of Jesus, Our Savior, deserve ..read more

The Power of Unity is in our hands

Imagine what the country probably felt like in 1860, right before the start of the Civil War. Anger. Hatred. Distrust. Cold shouldering. Tension. Hostility. Family members turning away from each other preparing to go to war against each other. Do I think that a Civil War is about to break out? Not exactly. But I do think that disunity is currently winning and at times it doesn’t even feel like unity is putting up a fight. If we’re being honest, the last eight months have been crazy. Pandemic, mask, no mask, protest, statues, flags, church in-person, church online, Democrats, Republicans, voter ..read more

How Should Christians Respond to Racial Injustices? Part 2 – A Call To Action
Levi Yancy

Before we talk about the action steps, if you haven’t already, be sure to check out the first blog post How should Christians Respond to Racial Injustices? It talks about the first two steps which are: awareness and acknowledgment. If we are not aware and if we don’t acknowledge, then we can’t be held accountable or be a Christian of action. As we finish up this last blog, we want to thank each of you for reading, sharing, encouraging, and asking questions. If we’re being honest, it’s tiring being a black person in America, but it’s even more tiring being a black Christian in America ..read more

How should Christians Respond to Racial Injustices?

The unjust killing of Ahmuad Arbery shook the Christian world. Which is good. More people are becoming aware of the injustices towards blacks. They’re hurting. They’re confused. They’re anxious. They want to join the fight. For my white brothers and sisters, I would ask that you read this with an open mind. Know that we are not attacking white people. Though you may never be able to fully empathize, you can absolutely sympathize. You can learn. You can listen. It may be uncomfortable and that’s ok. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. These blogs were written by three black men that are pastors i ..read more

You got the news that your senior year would come to an end rather abruptly. Thoughts of all that you would miss out on probably flooded your mind. The last time you would get to put on your jersey with your teammates. Prepare for your UIL event. Put on one last show with the band, Pick out your last prom dress. Sit at the lunch table or going to eat with your friends during your off period. And the one that hurts the most, putting on the cap and gown to experience a once in a lifetime moment. The last time you would gather with your friends and classmates that many of you have spent the major ..read more

Is Jesus Enough?
Levi Yancy
by Levi Yancy

I want to start out with a question. Yup, you guessed it. Is Jesus enough? It’s a question I’ve been asking myself for the last year. John 21:15-17 gives us a clear example of the times that we may battle with what is worth it. What is satisfying. Ultimately, what is enough. 15 When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.” 16 Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” Jesus said ..read more
