Today I’d like to share with you something we’ve been discussing quite a bit of lately. Recently, I wrote about my experience with a Creosote log and the many chemicals that are used in that product. The research led to excellent conversations between me and the kiddos regarding chemicals that are in our everyday products. One of our latest experiences has been learning more about chemicals and why it’s important that we clean our home without them, too. Nostalgia For as long as I can remember, the idea of cleaning was very present in my life. As a young child, I remember going to my Gram’s ..read more

Hello!  We have had a busy couple of weeks around here!  The kiddos and I were able to plan ahead our daily academic lessons so that when my parents visited for a week, we could spend the most time with them as possible. Thank you, homeschooling, for the flexibility to arrange our schedules to fit our lifestyle! In the midst of our latest move, we’ve done the normal things like clean, unpack, clean some more… And yet, the kiddos are still learning! I would even argue that the things they’ve learned at home in the past month are things they wouldn’t have learned in a traditional school setting ..read more

Have you ever wished you were born with a button? Wait! You were! A belly button! Unfortunately, that’s not the button I’m referring to. The button I wish I had would be easily accessible. I could push it when everything in life just seemed overwhelming and would grant me some much-needed patience. A touch of that button and voila! Calm. Patient. Stress and worry free! Sounds fabulous, doesn’t it? A patience button! (A pause button sounds plausible, but let’s talk about patience.)   My Internal Wiring? My lack of patience, that is. It must be a part of my DNA. All of my friends and family wo ..read more

Popcorn For Dinner Being a stay at home mom has many advantages.  One of which is having time to prepare dinner without being rushed.  However, there are days that it isn’t possible.  We sometimes opt for popcorn.  You may be wondering if we’ve fallen off the crazy train by thinking popcorn for dinner is a good choice.  Well, to clarify, we’re still on the crazy train around here AND we’re eating popcorn for dinner.  Oh, heavens, not always, of course!  Just every now and then as a treat.  I have another confession.  Are you sitting down?  We usually have ice cream with our popcorn.  If not by ..read more

Is it even possible to both home school my children AND work from home? I never thought it could be done. I didn’t know how I would jump into homeschooling our two kiddos and try to earn some income online simultaneously. There are days when I still don’t think it’s possible, but I’m sure giving it an honest effort! Take a peek at what I’m doing and how I can fit it into my day. Women = Multi-Taskers = Super Heroes I believe most women in general have the ability to function with more than a million mental tabs open all at once. If we are lucky, we were wired to be able to multi-task. Granted ..read more

Can it be done? What’s that, you ask? How can a family of four survive on one income in this world that deceives us by making us believe that two incomes is necessary? Of course, we know that anything is possible, right? Do you really believe that phrase? I’ll be honest. I never used to believe it. After all, how do we afford even a mortgage payment on only a single income? Take a look into our solution. Priorities This is step one. The Mister and I have created a list of things we feel are necessary and a list of wants. That’s the easy part. Letting go of the items on our ‘wants’ list was a ..read more
