Asda is launching digital spirits display screens in 23 of its Express stores.
The supermarket has teamed up with Diageo to place digital touchscreens on shelves or displayed as separate units in alcohol aisles with integrated printers.
Shoppers will be asked to prove their age before selecting their spirit. Once selected, the interactive screens will print a ticket to be processed at the checkout. The product will then be picked by an Asda colleague who will authorise the sale following a standard Challenge 25 prompt.

The Co-op has introduced 200 secure till kiosks and artificial intelligence (AI) software to monitor self-checkouts. This follows a significant rise in retail crime, with 336,270 incidents of shoplifting, abuse, violence and antisocial behaviour across Co-op’s 2,400 stores during 2023 (a 44% YOY increase).
