Finally a Quiet Day
Tornado Titans

There’s nothing to jinx here, the pattern today is going to be quiet with cool/dry air filtering into the region. Severe weather chances may return (albeit very marginal) tomorrow and especially Sunday. Everything looks lower end generally though. We don’t expect much else through about Wednesday. The pattern should pick up again starting then, but models aren’t handling the mid-range pattern well, with tons of inconsistency. But it will be late May which is the historical peak of tornado numbers nationwide, so it’s likely we will see at least some severe weather the rest of the month. The pos ..read more

Hail City
Tornado Titans

Severe storms are forecast to escalate throughout the afternoon across northwest to northern Texas, bringing the potential for very large hail and damaging winds. A stationary front stretches from Shreveport, LA, across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex towards a weak surface low near San Angelo, TX. This region is characterized by a highly moist and unstable air mass, evidenced by elevated MUCAPE levels around 4000 J/kg and steep midlevel lapse rates from the 12Z FWD sounding. Already, robust storm cells are up over Young and Archer counties, fueled by the cool, dry surface northeasterlies bene ..read more

Storm Threat Continues into the Night
Tornado Titans

Storms in northeast Texas that are moving east-southeast have fluctuated in intensity. The region ahead remains conducive for storm growth with strong buoyancy and 40-50 kts of effective shear, increasing the risk of large to very large hail and isolated severe gusts. The tornado threat seems lower-end across NE Texas. Current projections suggest these storms could affect northwest Louisiana and southeast Arkansas into the night. Further north, severe storms with large hail and damaging winds will remain possible across Arkansas and Missouri. The tornado risk is somewhat higher here vs. furthe ..read more

Busy Severe Weather Day from E OK into Ohio Valley!
Tornado Titans
by Tornado Titans

Severe weather warnings are in place across several states, including Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Texas, due to the persistent threat of supercells. These supercells are capable of producing very large hail, damaging gusts, and tornadoes. In southern Missouri and northeast Oklahoma, multiple supercells have formed along a frontal boundary. Conditions remain conducive for tornado formation due to warming temperatures and unstable air masses. Eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas are experiencing extreme instability, heightening the likelihood of isolated supercells with large hail and per ..read more

Tornado Titans

Just like we mentioned yesterday, if we ever say the words in the headline above know we don’t do that often. I know some groups out there say these words a lot, but this is a case when it really is true. Today is going to be a long day. An intense regional outbreak of severe weather is expected today, from this afternoon through evening, across parts of the south-central Plains. The most severe activity, characterized by multiple strong, long-tracked tornadoes, very large hail, and severe thunderstorm gusts, is anticipated over western, central, and northern Oklahoma to south-central Kansas ..read more

Tomorrow Could Be the Real Deal
Tornado Titans
by Tornado Titans

If you’ve followed us a long time, you know we are oftentimes the people who proudly anti-hype up some setups because there are a lot of accounts out there that really go overboard when it comes to severe weather risks. So I hope with that in mind, this lands a bit stronger than it would for most people saying it: tomorrow could be the real deal. As of right now, a significant risk of severe thunderstorms is forecast for west-central/central Oklahoma and south-central Kansas. Severe weather is expected to develop and move eastward across the southern/central Plains from Monday afternoon throug ..read more
