It's been a long time since I have written on this blog. Years, in fact, and so much has changed it would make your head spin. Chronic Lyme Disease is no longer the big, bad enemy that I face every day. Little did I know, there was a bigger, more fierce demon hiding in the shadows just waiting to take over my body. It goes by a silly set of letters but don't be fooled, it steals your life. POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) has ended my life but unfortunately, it left me breathing and trapped in this body, still stuck on this earth. Read on... This disease is part of a class of d ..read more

Frustration with Facebook...

So, I have been trying desperately to open a Facebook page so that my blog pages will go directly to FB whenever I post them. Originally the page got posted to my personal page which is exactly what I DIDN'T want. The problem is....it took off like gang busters!!! The other problem is, that I used to have a site called Lyme Lens on FB before I didn't realize that it was illegal to have two sites so I left it alone and never touched it again. Now when I went to open my new site, I had to take the name LymeLens with no space in the middle which was not my first choice. After a while, I found ou ..read more

As I have been stating for weeks now, I was going to put a news section at the bottom of my website that was going to have a live streaming feed of Lyme news from the lymedisease.org website but it turns out that they don't run a RSS feed anymore. Then I tried to load The Guardian News' RSS feed onto the news portion of the section and it wouldn't take it the way that I wanted. Lastly, I could not find a site that focused solely on the good works of people which was supposed to be the third part of the section. I am sure they exist as I have stumbled upon them by accident at times but when ac ..read more

I think that as Chronically Sick people we tend to take for granted those around us who always stick by our sides and provide our daily care 24/7. For me, that happens to be a woman who is 72 years old who has sacrificed her golden years to be at my beck and call whenever I need anything from my bed in my room. You see, if you have never read anything about me, I have Chronic Lyme Disease with POTS, a heart condition that makes my heart race if I try to stand up or do any physical exertion whatsoever. It is a dysfunction of my autonomic nervous system caused by either trauma, a surgery, an emo ..read more

You go to the mailbox everyday expecting to see the usual suspects, bills, junk mail, maybe the occasional hand written letter from a friend or a card for an upcoming birthday or anniversary and for those of us lucky enough to be on disability we face the Dreaded Envelope on year 1, 3, 5, 7 and 10 of our benefits. The sight of this envelope in your mailbox will instantly send the hairs on the back of your neck to stand on end, cold sweat begins to pour down your temples and your palms are clammy as you open it right at the mailbox. "This is your regularly scheduled check in by the Social Secu ..read more

Just when things were starting to take off with the blog and the website, something HAD to happen to slow my momentum. Well, there it is in all its glory....I have an inflammed elbow. It has been pretty hot for about a month now because when I type in bed I lie on my stomach and prop myself up on my elbows to type on my removable keyboard from my tablet. All the pressure from being on my elbows for up to 12 hours a day typing for the blog, guest blogs, keeping up with two Facebook pages and answering up to 50 or more emails a day with individual notes written back to each one has taken its to ..read more

I have determined by examining the results of the last post I put up and the statistics that came in that you guys REALLY LIKE PHOTOS!!!! All of my other blog posts were viewed like 3,000-5,000 times and then here came the one with the 15 photos of Tropical Storm Beryl and it got 19,000 views!!! Can you believe it??? I wonder if we as a society like photos better than reading/writing because it is less work and we can construe whatever we imagine to be the story in the photo or is it basically that we have a human nature that simply wants to SEE the other humans in the photos and their reacti ..read more

Hey everyone, remember me??? I'm the girl who wrote this blog diligently until the "Hockey Hacker" ruined what was a perfectly good thing that I had going. Let me explain. One day, I was minding my own business and I signed on to write a blog like I occasionally do and when the screen came on all I could see was pages and pages of commentary about professional HOCKEY of all things!!! On a website created for the chronically ill!!! What was this jerk thinking?? He was good too. He had written blogs and blogs of material ahead of time and was releasing it on a time schedule so I could never kee ..read more

The book that I am talking about of course is the one that we have been working on for three years now. It is a collaboration of authors, bloggers, writers of all types and artists who for all intents and purposes live every day of their lives with some type of invisible illness. The idea was started by a friend and fellow blogger who writes a blog called Pajama Daze. Here is how this came to be… She got in touch with me three years ago with the idea of approaching all these friends she had made throughout the years of writing her blog and she asked me what I thought about everyone writing a ..read more
