Why is Heterosexism favored in India?

The same reason why you or I won’t accept marriages between brothers and sisters. (At least in most cultures) As society progresses, our values change. We might consider inter-sibling marriages a regular thing in a few hundred years. If you are conditioned to believe something, you treat that as the absolute right to wrong. We think that siblings can’t have a sexual relationship/marriage and don’t see that as a good thing because our society has taught us so from the beginning. Similarly, LGBTQ+ rights were really not a topic of discussion during our parent’s/grandparent’s times. so they are ..read more

What is colour? It is really difficult to define it objectively. I have often wondered how we might describe colour, to a blind person. I am yet to find a satisfactory answer to that rhetoric.  However, colour is a delusion. Yes, you interpreted that right, colours are a myth. They don't exist. Colours are a product of millions of years of fine-tuning and grading of the meat inside our skull. The wavelengths received by the retina is fed into this meat. At this point, the information is just a wavelength of light, without any characteristic property attached to it. The brain tak ..read more

Language is more Important than we think

We often take language for granted. However, it is one of the most fundamental reasons why we humans (or Sapiens, to be specific) have grown to the position we are in. The ancient language was similar to that of animals' call. They comprised of a limited number of syllables and each "call" meant something different. For example, Langurs give out a characteristic call when a predator is close by so that the deer can be cautious. "Careful, Lion!" is what the monkey perhaps means by giving out a shrill tone. However, the limitation is that the amount of information that a single call could co ..read more

Eruption to Bicycles The bicycle is conceivably the simplest yet revolutionary invention to date. It serves as a reasonable mode of transport and a fun way to burn calories. However, the invention of bicycles has a very "dark" story behind it. Read along. Mt. Tambora, Indonesia, is notorious for the 1815 eruption, which led to widespread famines, slaughter and carnage. The explosion on 10th April 1815 was so severe that the eruption could be heard up to 2600 kilometres away. This also brought with it a lot of smoke of sulfur and nitrogen compounds and ash, which was dispersed in the at ..read more

Hey folks. Why do you think a country which gloats about its magnanimous population takes a step backwards when it comes to the number of Nobel laureates or for that matter, innovation?  IIT Bombay campus, techfest 2020 This is going to be a long post, so I recommend you to sit with a cup of coffee and an open mind... 1. Most of the students at top universities (Harvard, MIT, Cambridge to name a few) have one objective in their mind-ie to push humanity a step ahead towards a better world. However such is not the case here in our country. 2. Joining an IT company with shitloads of salary ..read more

Tuesday, Dec 24, 19. Sleep-deprived eyes, trying its level best to cope up with all the dangerous symbols open in the computer. A mug of coffee lazed beside me, with half of its content utilised for the study session.                                           Don't worry, an aspirant does not work this hard every day. The reason for my strange behaviour is due to my segregation examination coming up in a day or two. The only sound one can hear is the wall clock ticking and constant clicks of my mouse as I scroll through the sample question paper on the monitor, and perhaps occasionally ..read more

Hey folks! So finally I got some time in my hands to write something. To be honest, I am running out of ideas. And that's probably expected. After all, my brain has nothing but studies to think about, right? For example, currently, my slumber time storybooks include Calculus or algebra. What a life!!! Anyways, coming to the topic of today, WAR. Yes, This is a comprehensive word to define the situation on this side. After all, you are having a steadfast competition with rivals,  and most importantly, yourself. I have my Major Tests coming up the subsequent month, wherein all the pupil ..read more

I am Anwesh, a sixteen-year-old guy, currently studying in grade 11, equipping for the most sought after examination in India- the JEE.  Well, do not expect anything marvellous from any of my blogs. It's just a regular teen trying to write his own heart out........ Wondered why I started this entry with that quote? It is not easy to prepare for the JEE, and what makes the process harder is the cut-throat competition. Naah, not against it ..read more

An unfinished school assignment lying in your bag, fifty pages of DPP still left to be marked or reading all theory in H.C.Verma or Resnik. Wait, Arnt, you supposed to be solving Ranjeet Shahi now? Is it really that tough to imagine how your body would be flushed with dopamine once you achieve these goals? Not really right? This was a problem  I used to face during my Class 10 Years. Had a tonne of backlogs left[I never completed them:p] and was immensely worried that I was probably not gonna even touch the 90% mark in my finals.[ended up somehow touching the 95% mark] Well, how did I overco ..read more

So here I am finally attempting to write a blog....hope it goes well..... I am Anwesh, a sixteen-year-old guy, currently at a reputed coaching institute in Mumbai for my jee preparation. Perhaps, you have guessed by now that I am doing the customary ritual of preparing for the JEE. Honestly, I believe that this has become an integral part of Indian culture.  Why am I preparing for Engineering entrance examinations? Parental pressure? naaah... Wanna impress someone?
