What are the benefits of outsourcing my fleet management and why should I outsource to Fleet Alliance? Also, what makes you different from your competition in how fleet management is delivered? It’s always a good moment when you win an industry award. It’s palpable recognition for the team’s hard work, perseverance and professionalism. But when you win the Leasing Broker Federation’s Leasing ‘Broker of the Year award’ for the second successive year, then I’m absolutely delighted. It’s a great result and confirms our belief in what we’re doing and the direction we’re taking for our customers. Not only did we win Leasing Broker of the Year, but we took the Best Large Leasing Broker title for the third successive year, so we really must be doing something right! So how did we do it? Star cars at the LA Show

While manhole covers were being sucked up at the Los Angeles Formula 1 Grand Prix (resulting in urgent track repairs and red faces), downtown at the Los Angeles Convention Center the 2023 LA Auto Show was getting underway with fewer glitches. LA is a long way from the fleet market in the UK I know, but as ever, motor shows have a great way of throwing up new products that we will be seeing over here. Let’s start with Kia Here was a chance to see the EV3 and EV4 concept models. The EV3 is a compact SUV, while the EV4 is a small saloon. Both feature Kia’s new Opposites United design themes – ang ..read more

We’re ‘Great Place to Work’ certified – for the 12th time!
Fleet Alliance

Our team couldn’t be prouder. We know it’s a great place to work, but Fleet Alliance has just been certified as a ‘Great Place to Work’ for the 12th year running – no mean feat. But what does the certification actually mean? The Great Place to Work Institute is a fully independent organisation which assesses workplaces by gathering feedback from employee surveys as well as external analysis. It recognises employers who create an outstanding employee experience and company culture. I recently joined Fleet Alliance and the main draw for me was the company culture and it’s ‘people first’ approach ..read more

Employee benefits focus on electric car salary sacrifice as ESG moves up the HR agenda
Fleet Alliance
by marc.murphy

Employee benefits have recently focused on areas such as hybrid and home working, as well as employee wellbeing. Given the tribulations of the Covid lockdowns and the changes these engendered to working practices, these are fully understandable. But as the workplace adjusts to working post-pandemic,  HR professionals are taking into consideration the new pressures facing business operations, particularly around the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) agenda. This has pushed electric car salary sacrifice schemes firmly into the spotlight. These schemes provide the opportunity for al ..read more

Government sets out steps to 2035 zero emission sales.
Fleet Alliance

There were plenty in the fleet industry who were taken aback by last week’s announcement by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak over the change of end date for fossil-fuelled cars. Instead of banning the sale of new petrol and diesel cars from 2030 it was pushed back five years to 2035. While there is some merit in this – company car drivers and salary sacrifice takers are pushing on with electrification, benefiting as they do from generous tax allowances – there remains little incentive for private buyers. So, I can see the sense in a more generous timeline to let private drivers ‘catch up’, particula ..read more

The date may have changed but the direction of travel remains certain

It was certainly disappointing to hear that the Government’s ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars is to be moved back from its original cut off  date of 2030 to 2035. Certainly it must be frustrating for those who have invested heavily to meet the 2030 deadline – fleets, car makers, infrastructure suppliers, the training of after sales technicians and so on. But I understand the point that not everyone is fully ready for such a change, that a more fully developed used market for electric vehicles (EVs) would be more advisable, and that commercial vehicle fleets, in particular, ar ..read more

IAA Mobility 2023 – seven Munich Show stars

I’ve been reflecting on the recent Munich Motor Show in Germany – or, to give the event its proper handle, IAA Mobility 2023 – which has just closed its doors. Germany is the heart of the European motor industry, so a home show is always important to signal new product, develop new design language and see how far Europe’s car makers are down Electric Avenue. And then there were the Chinese car makers who are beginning to make themselves felt as a presence in Europe. Most notable was BYD BYD is China’s biggest EV maker and launched its Seal U SUV at Munich which will join the Seal hatchback and ..read more

Best Workplaces for Women 2023
Fleet Alliance

We are delighted to be awarded the Best Workplaces for Women 2023. It is the third time we have been recognised for the quality of our workplace for women, this is in addition to Fleet Alliance being a great place to work. Fleet Alliance is a fully inclusive company, but it’s particularly rewarding to note that we are a great place to work for women simply because we’re in the motor industry, which is a traditionally male dominated area. But we don’t see it that way. Fleet Alliance is a business for all. “Everyone is friendly and treats you as an equal regardless of your gender,” explains Oliv ..read more

10 great cars to have on salary sacrifice
Fleet Alliance
by Charlie Strand

Salary sacrifice is the ideal opportunity to drive a brand-new electric car for less than leasing one personally. It’s a way to meet the cost of living crisis head-on by reducing your motoring costs. Your monthly payments are low thanks to the tax efficiencies offered by salary sacrifice, there’s no large up-front payment, and all your motoring costs – bar the electricity – are covered including car insurance, servicing, MOTs and tyre replacements. Importantly,  salary sacrifice offers a cost-effective way to drive a zero-emission vehicle that will help reduce urban pollution and support ..read more
