Download the audio version of the show using the Soundcloud player. Becoming a music journalist isn’t for the faint-hearted. And running your own online magazine is 100 times the effort.  Starting your own magazine is a rewarding way to get into dance culture, especially if DJing isn’t your bag. But there’s a myriad of things that could go wrong when starting your own online magazine.  That’s even if you can get the thing started in the first place. Web design, writing, graphics, newsletters… The list goes on. These are all things you need to think about if you want to run a su ..read more

Track Review | Old School | Louis the Hippie
All My Friends
by Liam Donoghue

Written by Sean Stapleton Here at AMF, we first covered Louis the Hippie back in May. Since then we’ve kept a keen eye on things, and a few months of exposure to his social media output has  created an interesting perception. Deep, playful, sometimes a little grandiose, he can wear many hats, both literally and figuratively. The new video kicks off with footage which we didn’t recognise, but that could easily have taken place in 2005; an era of Happy Slaps, battered Nokias and the grime boogeyman himself, Crazy Titch. The raw, DIY nature of the clip epitomises the era; just a young g ..read more

The infinite Struggle – Organising a digital music library
All My Friends
by Liam Donoghue

No matter how many times I try to organise my music library: arranging my track by color, mood, or tempo, the track MK – My Head Is A Jungle will always rear its ugly head. It’s really annoying.  Maybe for you, the track is a nostalgic banger. It takes you back to hazy days in 2014, Clean Bandit and Route 94  are dominating the dance charts (and mainstream radio) and everyone was willing to ignore the fact that tech-house was just a bit shit.      Speaking subjectively, the track could be amazing for you, you might love it and still chuck it on today when you ..read more
