How not to train your dog – Part one (with videos)

We’ve all seen them out and about, dogs that are hanging on every word their owner says as they trot obediently beside them as they walk. Or the dog that sits patiently outside the shop whilst their owner is inside buying some cider, sometimes not even on a leash! I am pretty sure dogs don’t just do this of their own free will, I have a feeling some kind of training is involved. This is what I want, so this is what I will do. There are a lot of good Dog Obedience classes out there I am sure but hey, I have You Tube, I can train them myself. Tommy has turned from the Dark Side in the last few m ..read more

It has been exciting Bank Holiday weekend here at Tommyno. Not only was the sun shining and Peaky Blinders started a new season but we heard Tommyno was selected by panelists to appear in the Top UK Dog Blog list with https://www.feedspot.com/?ref=blog Check us out on https://blog.feedspot.com/uk_dog_blogs/ riding high at number 14! Fame at last for Tommy and Chase (who is taking all the credit). Our site was selected at this stage based purely on the (amazing) content as we are still in the early stages of Tommyno so we have a long way to go to climb up the rankings and make us number 1! Double Trouble – Meet Chase! Live (ish)
Tommyno

A few months ago myself and Emma were discussing what to get James for his birthday. I can’t quite remember how the conversation went but quite out of the blue we decided we would get him pet budgie. A budgie is easy to look after, feed it, call it ‘pretty boy’, teach it the odd swear word – piece of cake. He would look after it and gain a sense of responsibility that comes from having your own pet. Birds are quite tough and would surely not come to the same gruesome demise that its predecessors Pikachu the guinea pig (exposure/ate poison), Mr Bubbles the tortoise (became a chew toy for ..read more

I cannot get a minutes peace! For anyone who read my last post and need further proof that you no longer have any time to yourself, see the video below. I wish this was a one off but this happens every morning – and yes I am also in the bath. Tommy loves the bath, I would not mind but he not particularly smelly or dirty! I swear to God when he has had enough he pulls the plug and jumps out! Watch the video in full and you get a sneak preview of Chase, not quite the water baby Tommy is but he will follow his big brother wherever he goes. He will get a proper introduction later on today via W ..read more

10 Ways kids and dogs are basically the same
Tommyno

Dogs and kids – the perfect ingredient for any family right? Some families just go with the kids and maybe pad it out a bit with the odd goldfish or gerbil. Others don’t bother with the kids and just have a few dogs and a social life. The bold and the brave will go ‘full family’ and go with both kids and dogs. If T.V has taught us anything it is that any happy family requires an equal measure of canine and youngster to be complete. Would the Robinson family in Neighbours have overcome their many many obstacles without Bouncer to help them through the tough times? Would Johnny Briggs have gotte ..read more

Tommyno
by Richard Maddocks

(But we can’t do any of them because both our dog and child are anti-social) It’s that time of the school year again, Half Term. Only in England though, Wales has theirs next week. Why? Who knows? That time of year where parents are forced to take a weeks holiday that could have been put to better use in one of the warmer months. Maybe in April or May when you can be busy in the garden getting it ready for the summer, maybe even a cheeky extra week in August? But no, we are forced use up this precious week in February. It’s barely even a month! What is can you do in February beside catch up on ..read more

This Page is really important to me so please read it here. You should be warned it is pretty much a Tommy free zone though (unless you are tired of Tommy, surely not?). I should warn you it’s probably not as funny as my other posts (it is about a dead dog after all) but if you want to fully understand Tommy and I then you must read it. So what are you waiting for go and check it out. You can also find it at the top of the Home Page. And don’t forget to like and share and comment for everything. You are all doing very well with this but there is always room for improvement ..read more

There are lots of exciting things happening at Tommyno over the next couple of weeks. Baxter’s Page should be up and running this weekend and there are lots of mundane I need to do in the background to make this site awesome. Plus there are minor inconveniences that get in the way like work and having to patch up the bathroom floor. So if you can’t wait for your next fix of Tommyno then here is a quick video of me trying to get Tommy to chew a valentines card on cue. He doesn’t take direction well. Enjoy and keep sharing and we are loving all of you kind comments. Keep them coming ..read more

Valentines Special! Are You The Love Of Your Dogs Life?

Somebody once asked me who I would save if my wife Emma and Tommy were hanging off the edge of a cliff. My immediate response was to say that Tommy would not be daft enough to fall off the cliff in the first place. That did not go down well. Nope, shes not having thatWhat I said was untrue, firstly of course my wife is not daft. God knows she watches enough quiz shows on the telly. Secondly Tommy is a complete idiot sometimes and I know for a fact that if I threw a shoe over the edge of a cliff he would leap gleefully after it and find enough strength when he hit the bottom to chew it to littl ..read more
