When I started running back in 2015, I had zero clue what I was doing. Like nada. I didn’t know about the run/walk method, or to get properly fitted for shoes, or that what I ate before my run would impact how the run went. I had zero running friends & had no clue about running blogs, or FB groups, or anything. It was a bloomin’ tough slog. I would lace up post-work 3 times a week (I’d still be wearing my work pantyhose under my sweats to stay warm – coz it was winter in Toronto & I had no idea about what runners wore to keep warm), and every single time I stepped out my front door to ..read more

Wanna know what is absolutely key to running a 2hr half-marathon? I chat to runners all the time that dream of hitting their coveted running time. But you know what the one major mistake is that I hear again and again? They focus on runs, on paces, on gear…..and completely by-pass having a clear strategy for how to prep their body before the run, during the run, and aid with recovery post-run. Can you guess what it is? FUELING, aka sports nutrition, aka food. Yup, this is your secret weapon to seeing 2:00:00 on your Garmin! If you are completely overwhelmed with knowing what to eat (and when ..read more

Whether you’d planned to take time off running or not, it can be hard / difficult / tricky to get back into it.    Here are my 5 strategies for coming back to running after taking time off. Identify what you ..read more

DECIDING WHEN YOU NEED A RUNNING COACH

Growing up, I was the kid that always avoided movement. As a teen, I would regularly bail on PE classes because I didn’t want my hair and make-up to get messed up with sweat! During my twenties, my inactivity continued, choosing to do a weekend marathon DVD boxset rather than getting outside and moving my body. Combined with my inactivity, I was also eating garbage but was in complete denial about how bad it was. It wasn’t until I moved to Canada in 2014 that my love for movement started – but gosh it was messy! I had absolutely no clue what I was doing. I got injured all the time. I was exhau ..read more
