Recently, we published an article about the changes to Ontario’s Public Education system made by Doug Ford & his PC party as well as Lisa Thompson who is Ontario’s Education minister. However, how fast the impact of these changes would occur in the city of Guelph was not predicted. The Upper Grand District School Board has made a decrease in positions because of the provincial revenue loss as well as the significant changes in Autism funding in Ontario. Currently, 54 elementary school teachers have received layoff notifications from Upper Grand District School Board after they finish out t ..read more

Some years ago when I went to the CNE I discovered that they had electric scooters for people with mobility issues, to rent. They requested a piece of ID they could hold, and a small monetary hold on a credit or debit card. The ID was a wonderful idea, as no one would want to leave the area without their drivers license, CNIB card, or whatever else they chose to leave, and while they’re picking up their ID, they might as well drop off the scooter. This was a wonderful way to ensure that visitors with mobility issues got what they needed, and that the items weren’t stolen or misused. Today my q ..read more

In an address to the nation on Tuesday, U.S. President Donald Trump declared a “humanitarian and security crisis” at the southern border with Mexico, where he aims to build a wall, with Democrats blaming the partial United States government shutdown as a result of the president “holding America hostage” in a post-address rebuttal. The president said that he would now pass on the originally promised concrete wall in favour of steel slats “at the request of Democrats” and placed the onus of the shutdown on Democrats in Congress. However, Democrats made clear that they did not support any wall, e ..read more

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police, armed in high numbers, broke through one of two checkpoints set up by Wet’suwet’en land defenders who aim to stop a Coastal GasLink natural gas pipeline from being built.
