Emotional Honesty...What's That?

Over the past few months, I have been listening to the Love Hour Love Cast hosted by @KevOnStage and @MrsKevOnStage. The love hour is one of my go-to podcast during the day because I have been able to see and hear about the growth of their marriage and learn more about friendships and just overall relationships. Over the past couple of months, the bases of the podcast even though it may not be the topic has been emotional honesty. After I first heard about this, I noticed this topic being a consistent thought in my mind. Honestly, you probably can guess what emotional honesty means but yet it ..read more

If you’ve read our last few posts, then you know we are engaged and have begun wedding planning! What does this mean? As you probably guess it’s that we want to be with each other forever. I bet you’re saying well DUH that’s what marriage is but did you know that it’s a privilege? For us, this journey will be a great joy, because we met during college, where we were unsure of who and what we wanted to be. Even though, we're still in that phase we get the chance to learn about each other and ourselves plus support and pushing each other towards our dreams of who and what we want to become. 4th of July Weekend 2019 was one for the books! This was the weekend of wedding venue tours, engagement photos, family time, and dates. Our weekend was suppose to begin on Wednesday, July 3rd but July 2nd was the biggest curve ball that started it off. We were both super excited for the weekend to finally get here. We spent days and nights picking outfits and planning stuff to do so the countdown to the fun was almost at zero. Marcus has been involved in a corporate basketball tournament with his company for the past month and a half. They play a game each Tuesday night so July 2nd Marcus was ..read more

So let us tell you the story of how an Atlanta boy and a St. Louis girl met, fell in love, and took the step towards being in love forever: Because our 3 year anniversary was in February and Marcus’ birthday was in April, we decided to take a trip in May to celebrate. Memphis was actually our 3rd choice but it turned out to be the best choice. Marcus picked Bry up from the airport that Thursday evening. Immediately after, he took her to his fav local bar to have some good ole Crawfish. This lit up Bryanna's heart and eyes when she knew about this. Friday was a great day. We took a day trip to ..read more

Are virtual date nights a thing? How, if ya'll don’t like to video chat? What do ya'll do? How do you do date night? How often do we do it? What if I tell you that we have a date night, that is our absolute favorite and go to when we want to just unwind with each other. We do Movie Date night which sounds weird but we love it. Taking cue from a previous post on our blog called Exploring Intimacy, being in a LDR you find ways to still be near or feel connected to your partner. When Bry and I were in the first few months of our relationship, we were still in school and were able to see each oth ..read more

Happy Mother's Day
B&M Survive LDR!

We talk to our moms pretty often throughout the week. We’re always checking in and able to say “I love you” and “thank you” to them. Our mothers have been pretty involved with our relationship since the beginning, even as we transitioned to LDR. Seeing as today is Mothers’ Day, we figured we would write a post honoring the mothers we love so much. Marcus: For those who don't know me that well, I was born in Atlanta, GA and my family adopted me when I was only 3 weeks old. So my family, has been really my family all my life. My mom has definitely been a loving mother all theses years. Wise and ..read more

Gift giving is another part of LDR for us. Rather it is an anniversary or birthday or just because, we love giving each other memorable gifts. We wanted to show you all the gifts we gave at each of our past 3 anniversaries. psst...Maybe this will also help you find ideas for your significant other. Let it be known that Bryanna loves crafting. So based off of knowing that you can bet that Bryanna loves to make her gifts for Marcus. Marcus is on the less crafty side but is very thoughtful, so Marcus’ gifts are purchased but they are meaningful. It doesn’t matter which end of the spectrum you are ..read more

“Hello B&M Survive LDR! I heard an interesting radio commentary on finances and couples. The gist of the discussion was, when do couples discuss their financial positions and goals? Early on? Once engaged? When it too late? This study showed that (a high percentage of) women who allow their men/spouses to handle the finances, lack financial savvy, and live poorer lifestyles. And, suffer even more emotional turmoil when the male dies because the women have little or no concept of how to maneuver the day to day financial duties. This report states the percentage seems to be higher among mill ..read more
