Ever since Citilink announced their new dining experiences program, I was eager to try it out. It’s a service that includes a refreshment, choice of some fantastic main meal dishes as well as sides. Also, coffee and tea, extra miles for Garuda Indonesia, free seat assignment, Priority boarding, Airport assistance on departure and arrival, and two flight insurance policies. For the price paid (USD$40), it’s exceptional value! The Citilink dining experiences program differs on Domestic and International flights. On domestic flights, there is a choice of up to 10 hot meal options, five desserts a ..read more

Review: Emirates Economy Class Melbourne to Singapore

After spending the summer in Australia, I had to get myself to Singapore for a connecting flight with China Airlines to Europe. Airfares between Melbourne and Singapore are very competitive as low-cost airlines Scoot and Jetstar offer dirt-cheap fares. Emirates had some excellent one-way tickets at around USD$240, and I was sold. They are one of the most popular airlines searched for on this website, and I thought it was about time to check out the economy class experience and document it here. EK 405 departed Melbourne at 1855 with only 80 passengers booked in economy, which meant plenty of r ..read more

Review: EVA AIR Bangkok to Jakarta Business class

I’ve flown EVA Airways on several occasions, mainly to check out the Hello Kitty Jets and experience those out of this world kids meals. This time I treated myself to an upgraded experience on EVA and booked a business class trip. The EVA Air lounge in Bangkok Airport is my favourite Star Alliance lounge there. The food in the lounge is prepared by Thai Airways catering, there are lots of choices, and the times I’ve visited it’s always been quiet. My flight from Bangkok to Taipei was scheduled for just over 3 hours, with a departure time of 2 am. Since it was a night-time departure, I was exp ..read more

Review: Air Vanuatu Economy Class Noumea to Brisbane

In December I was in New Caledonia for a quick break and needed to get to Brisbane, I chose to fly with Air Vanuatu from Noumea to Port Vila. I had a quick break in Port Vila and then continued onto Brisbane. The island hop from Noumea would take about 1.15mins on the airlines’ ATR72 aircraft nearly as long as the security line took at Noumea’s La Tontouta International Airport that morning. The small airport doesn’t cope with 3 or 4 flights departing close to each other, resulting in some of the longest lines I’ve ever experienced (55 mins to be exact). I made it to my gate with only a few mi ..read more

Review: Air Calin Economy Class Sydney to Noumea

Having spent the summer of 2019/2020 in Melbourne I decided to get away for a few days and head to New Caledonia. Air Calin operate their A330-900neo on their Sydney to Noumea route a few days a week, so I booked a one-way ticket from Melbourne via Sydney in order to experience the new aircraft. However, a last-minute aircraft change meant that I would be travelling on their A320 instead. The airline offers a range of pre-order upgrade meals which launched recently, however as hard as I tried I could not book this meal, as I had booked a Qantas codeshare flight. I’d have to make do with the st ..read more

Aegean recently celebrated their 20th anniversary with a brand new look that accompanied the delivery of the A320neo to their fleet. There was a large ceremony in Athens to launch the new brand and aircraft which will replace their current A320 fleet over the coming years. On a recent trip from Zurich to Athens, the stars aligned and I was lucky enough to travel on one of the new aircraft in business class. Some of the new features in the aircraft include these handy tablet/phone holders as well as USB charging ports in all seats. In business class, there are newly designed decent-sized pil ..read more

Review: Qatar Airways Economy Class Meals

Qatar Airways are known to have some of the best inflight service whichever cabin you fly in, but what about the food? I was curious to see what their inflight menu would be like, and couldn’t wait to see what the offer would be like. I booked a ticket from Helsinki to Bangkok one way, very last minute at an excellent price. My flight from Helsinki to Doha would take around 5hr and 25 mins, so I was expecting at least one meal service and a snack service. I had a very warm welcome aboard by the attentive crew at the boarding door, and as I continued the walk to economy class, I was greeted by ..read more

It was my first time on United Airlines in over 20 years, back in 1998 as a teenager I flew them from Melbourne to Los Angeles. My expectations were low, considering I just flew with Delta and experienced their fabulous new economy class inflight service. United Flight 940 was to depart from Newark to London at 10 pm. Before my flight, I visited the United Club to check out the food and drink options. There were a few things that were quite interesting though such as the bar area with bar staff taking all drink orders, a hot cocoa bar, tea and coffee stations and water stations scattered throu ..read more

TUI is a UK based holiday airline (previously known as Thomson) flying to predominantly holiday destinations. It has been a while since I last flew them on a short-haul route, and thought it was about time to check out the latest buy onboard menu offering. You can view the previous review right here. WHAT TO EXPECT INFLIGHT ON TUI UK If you’re flying with TUI you won’t receive any free meals on short-haul flights, however on their long haul flights (7 hrs plus) meals are always included. On long haul flights expect the service to run as follows: 1- After takeoff drinks are provided (No Prosecc ..read more
