If you are a coach or physical education teacher, do you use
is running as a way to get a disruptive kid on board? Do you often make the
whole team or class run due to one person’s attitude or actions?
Or when a player is having a hard time understanding their
role and expectations, do you decide that they should run a couple laps in
hopes they will figure it out?
Using running as a source of discipline is not uncommon with
coaches or physical education teachers.
However, using running as a punishment is actually
counterproductive to what you are trying to achieve.

Trauma is often used as a term to describe events that produce distress in ones life. This can be anything from serving in the military, physical or sexual abuse, natural disasters or violent events.
However, since trauma is often based on personal feelings, events don’t necessarily have to be life-threatening in order to create a traumatic experience. For instance, a divorce or loss of a loved one could create a traumatic experience.
Trauma looks and feels different to everyone.
When we experience a traumatic situation or our brain
believes we are in danger, our sympathetic nerv ..read more

Now, I am by no means an expert on this topic, however find it very interesting and worthy of sharing.
As I continue to research this practice, I have come to realize that Ayurveda can be a very complex way to live. Ayurveda practitioners believe that stress equals imbalance ..read more

If
you will, allow me to set the tone for this conversation.
I am guessing by
now it is later in your day. You are probably just getting a chance to sit down
after a long eight hours.
If you are like me,
you most likely woke up early this morning and got right down to business. You
might have tried to get in a quick workout, followed by a shower, followed by
getting the kids up for school.

accomplished you rushed out the door, coffee in one hand and car keys in the
other.

I
used to suck at life!
It’s true!
I was the kind of person
that talked about people behind their backs, engaged in gossip, and would flip
you off if you were driving too slow.
Everything I encountered
had something wrong with it. The sun was too bright, the humidity was too hot,
and the bugs were annoying.
I spent a lot of time
channeling my inner suck-e-ness. I believed that everyone owed me respect and
everything was someone else’s fault. I could do no wrong and the whole world
revolved around one thing…. ME!
When I became an adult, I
continued to suck at life. In fact ..read more

Before we talk about three of my favorite balance poses and
there benefits, let me share a bit of information that can help make standing
on one foot a little more pleasurable.
In yoga, we use a term known as Drishti. This is a Sanskrit word
that means gaze. For each pose that we do there is a certain focal point that

Have you ever been at work and walked into a room where your
co-workers were all standing around talking? The minute you walk in they stop.
What is your immediate reaction?
They are talking about you, right?
Once this happens, your mind immediately starts racing with
self-destructive thoughts.
“What were they saying about me?”
“Did I forget to do something I was supposed to do?”
“Was there something I forgot to do that I should have?”
“What did I do wrong?”
These thoughts become emotions which eventually cause worry
which results in STRESS!
