Alappuzha (Alleppey) is referred to as “the Venice of the East.” This picturesque site is the centre of Kerala’s backwaters and is home to a vast network of backwaters and thousands of houseboats, making it one of the greatest tourist destinations in Kerala. While backwaters and lakes remain the main attraction of the city, it’s streets and houses deserve equal amount of appreciation. Strolling through the quaint and vibrant lanes of Alappuzha is certainly a wonderful experience. Here’s a glimpse ..read more

Corjuem fort was built in 1550 and was originally the property of the Bhonsle rulers of Sawantwadi. Portuguese colonists rebuilt the fort in 1705 to boost their defences of Panaji, which had by then become the capital city. It is smaller than the other forts in Goa, but it gives a good view of the surrounding river and land. Like most of the other forts in Goa, Corjuem fort is constructed of laterite stone. Built in a square shape, it has bastions at each of the four corners with embrasures for cannons. At each corner of the fort is a ramp-like stair which can be mounted ..read more

In the first part of this walk, I am exploring one of the most famous fortresses in Goa- CHAPORA FORT during sunset. The climb up the stairs is quite tedious but the view makes up for it. I also did a small hike to the stunning view point from where you can enjoy unobstructed view of Vagator Beach, Morjim Beach and conflunce of Chapora River into Arabian Sea. The Fort of Chapora got popularized by bollywood movie Dil Chahta Hai and is now a prime attraction of Goa. While Chapora Fort’s sunset view is quite famous, I wanted to explore it early in the morning with absolutely no crowd and captur ..read more

Goa Walking Tour: Nature & Beach Walk around Bambolim

Bambolim beach is what you’d call a hidden beach mainly popular amongst locals. Unlike other touristy beaches around Goa, there aren’t any shacks or restaurants on this one. It’s perfect to spend a casual evening while watching the sunset. Or if the tide is low, enjoy a barefoot run on the beach. Siridao Beach, which I covered in a previous video, is situated just a few minutes away from Bambolim. Apart from a few luxury resorts like Grand Hyatt or Bambolim Beach resorts, there are not many stay options available here. Have a look! Here is the route map of the walk if you wish to do it yourse ..read more

The entire area of Sinquerim, Candolim, Calangute and Baga is probably one of the most popular beaches in Goa. Ease of access and proximity to the capital city Panjim makes it quite a buzzing place. Lockdown restrictions have been completely lifted but the shops and shacks around these popular tourist areas are still not back in full swing. Although, locals as well as tourists from neighbouring states have started enjoying their time by the beach. In part 1 of this series, I am documenting post-unlock scenes around Calangute Market area and Calangute Beach. In part 2 of this walk series, I am ..read more

Goa Walking Tour: Laidback Scenes from Siridao Village & Beach

Take a closer look at a laidback Goan village by the beach. In this one, I am walking through the Siridao village in North Goa and ending the walk at Siridao beach with a spectacular sunset view. Personally, I love this beach for it’s stunning view of the Vasco port on the opposite side, unobstructed sunset, and for collecting shells. It is said that the northern fringe of the Siridao beach used to be a part of the ancient Gopakapattana port, remains of which are hardly existent anymore. Here is the route map of the walk if you wish to do it yourself: On the edge of the Siridao beach, on top ..read more
