UTICA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) -- A Rome woman faces arson charges after she tried to set her boyfriend's apartment on fire on Tuesday, April 23, according to Utica Police. Officers were called to an apartment on Kennedy Plaza at approximately 8 am on Tuesday. Upon their arrival, they spoke with the resident of the apartment, who stated that he was allegedly having an argument with his girlfriend -- later identified as 22-year-old Kaylen Schloop of Rome. (WSYR-TV) -- It wasn't until after a 12-unit apartment building caught on fire on Tuesday night, April 23, that the Scriba Fire Department found there were actually working smoke detectors inside.
