Cave Stream is really great place to explore. There is a cave! Well-maintained in areas with iron-hand-holds. If you go there be prepared that you will be walking about an hour in the dark and in the cold. Good head-lamps & wet-suits are advised. It is really a must, if you're around. Get there early. We were alone during our walk, but when we got out, the place were really busy. It is much better if there are no people before and after you. Lake Coleridge is located in inland Canterbury, in New Zealand's South Island. Located 35 kilometres (22 mi) to the northwest of Methven, it has a surface area of 47 square kilometres (18 sq mi). The lake is situated in an over-deepened valley formed by a glacier over 20,000 years ago in the Pleistocene era. It currently has no natural outflows. Beautiful place to go. Crystal clear water. Epic mountains not so far.  It's really quiet and peaceful area just 1 hour drive from Christchurch.  Another amazing place if you'd like to take some stunning photos. Travis Wetland is located in north-east Christchurch, close to sea-level, and is typical of pre-European Christchurch and Canterbury plains swamp lands.Travis is the largest wetland in Christchurch with an area of 56.5 hectares, and is unique in the fact that it is situated in an urban area. Bounded by Mairehau, Frosts, and Travis Roads, this area is Christchurch’s last major piece of freshwater wetland. When you consider that Christchurch was built from a swamp, these remaining wetlands become a very important part of our history and heritage.  Official site Travis Wetland Nat ..read more
