Goals for the New Year Are you still working on a list of things you want to accomplish this year? Maybe you are or maybe you have given up on writing resolutions all together. Either way, think about your why and how as you move forward in this new year. Maybe this is the year to set spiritual goals.  One of the things I enjoy most about beginning a new year is that it provides us with the opportunity to start fresh or to begin anew. There are always new chapters to be written and discoveries that are waiting to be uncovered.    “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a ..read more

Look No Further than God’s Word for a New Year Reset

Time for a New Beginning Here we are, a new year and a new beginning. One of the things I appreciate most about January is the hope I have for change and for doing things differently. No doubt 2024 will unfold in a variety of ways, but one thing I know for sure is there’s no need to look further than God’s Word for a new year reset. As one year ends and another begins, it is pretty normal to reflect on the sequence of events that have taken place and evaluate our progress.  What did we accomplish?  Did we reach our goals?  What went well, what didn’t?  Can things be bigger ..read more

His is the Greatest Gift of Love

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 NLT In the final week of Advent, we are lighting the candle that signifies the greatest gift of love. It’s the perfect time to reminisce and reflect on how we convey godly love. Everyday I’m thankful for the gift of love from family and friends. They care for me, surprise me, help me and show their love for me through the good and the bad. In turn, I want to do the same for them because God’s Word commands us to. He wants us to love one anot ..read more

Celebrate the Gift of Joy

Today marks the third Sunday of Advent and it’s time to celebrate the gift of joy. As we light the third candle (rose or pink) let us think about ways to choose a joy-filled life. God’s Word commands us to ‘Rejoice in the Lord.’ We are to be joyful always and realize that our joy is for His glory. As I read Luke 2:1-20, I am reminded of Jesus’ birth and the following description in verses 9-11: “An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great j ..read more

The Season of Hope It’s almost Christmas–the season of hope, peace, joy, love, and Jesus. The advent season gives each of us the opportunity to prepare our hearts for this miraculous time. It’s so important to honor traditions, both old and new, spend time with loved ones and purposefully plan ways to celebrate the Holy One.  If you’re looking for traditions your family can invest in, make plans to gather, fellowship, and celebrate Jesus this Christmas season. Gather around an Advent Wreath, read the Scriptures each week and experience the events leading up to the birth of Jesus. You’ll f ..read more

Simple Hospitality Starting with a “P”

Simple Hospitality The holidays are around the corner which is the perfect time for simple hospitality—so simple you don’t even need to clean your house or put on the dog (or put your dog in the kennel!)  One simple P is for Porch Hospitality and it’s a wonderful and simple way to share God’s love and let someone know they are not forgotten. Last Christmas, my friend Yvette, put together baskets including three 3 P’s—Pound Cake, Popcorn and Pears and passed them around their neighborhood. Her mom always got pears from Harry & David’s for the holidays and it warmed her heart to carry o ..read more

How to Bless Others with Biblical Hospitality

Offer Hospitality As we dive further into God’s Word and how Jesus uses us to love and care for others, it is important to focus on His perspective of biblical hospitality.  At no time is our being the hands of feet of Jesus about bringing attention to our own efforts. It is all about what He does through us to lovingly and joyfully connect to others. Hospitality allows us to share God’s Word while building meaningful relationships that matter. Fellowshipping with others is an opportunity to share His message of hope and good news.  I love that God’s Word states so plainly in 1 ..read more

Give the Gift of Authentic Hospitality

Just Open the Door As I sit soaking up the days of fall, my mind wanders to the possibilities awaiting me. I could fill a page with all the to-do’s and such, but the most pressing thing on my heart right now is loving and fellowshipping with others. Authentic hospitality if you will.  Intentionally carving out time will certainly help, but if I’m going to do what God wants me to do (and not get bogged down in the mundane list), I must begin by asking Him to open the door of my heart and make clear what the needs are and how to move forward. Time for Everything As we know from Ecclesiastes ..read more

Celebrate Mom It’s Mother’s day weekend and whatever you’re doing to celebrate, make the most of it. You have your own list of reasons when it comes to celebrating mom, but for many it’s about honoring those who love unconditionally, care for their children, spend time with them, chauffeur and run the errands, clean and takes care of the laundry, cook countless meals, volunteer, and a host of other things. All worthy and admirable qualities. “You should be known for the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.” 1 Peter 3:4 Fo ..read more
