My detailed comparison (and personal bias) of the best boxing punch trackers/sensors…by PunchLab, FightCamp/Hykso, Everlast PIQ, Punchlab, StrikeTec, and more. They’re all promising to be revolutionary technology in boxing training, designed to increase your performance and training improvements (giving you helpful feedback about your training)…all at the cost of a couple hundred bucks…hmmm. So the question is…are they worth it? And if so, which one is the best for you! It’s time you get an opinion from a real boxer who’s had them for 2+ years. What are boxing punch trackers? …and what do b ..read more

Sidekick Boxing Gloves Review

My review of this cheap glove brand from the UK (and definitely made in Pakistan). If you want to save time…just don’t buy it, don’t read this guide, forget you ever heard about the brand. But if you really need details, here they are: Poor quality and protection. (I apologize in advance for anyone offended by my dramatic intro photo.) Let’s just make this quick and painless. I already feel bad they sent me 2 pairs of gloves. I warned them I would hammer the brand if I felt it sucked and boy did they deliver (on the suckiness). Sidekick is about the worst gloves you can train in…and ..read more

The Art of Slipping INSIDE Punches
How to Box | ExpertBoxing

I cover some boxing history and technical details of slipping to the inside of punches. Maybe you’ve never thought about it that way but INSIDE SLIPPING is definitely making a comeback in the sport of boxing. It’s a trendy move I see in Instagram highlights like every other week. A good chunk of them are Lomachenko and other Cuban/Soviet style boxers. But there’s club-grade amateurs doing it, too. It looks slick as hell and very fun to do. But what makes slipping inside special? And why is it so rare now to the point of being “special”? If you ask me…slipping inside isn’t even special at all ..read more

TopBoxer Gloves Review

My honest and detailed review after messing with (2) pairs of TopBoxer gloves for 1 year. I ordered a 16oz custom pair with super cushion foam for maximum protection and sparring softness. And also a 14oz stock pair just for reviewing purposes. I told him to throw in any stock pair; I didn’t care what it was. I’ll go over everything I saw, and the details I noticed. Background on Muhammad Irfan of TopBoxer (from Pakistan) Muhammad is a guy I heard of only from the magic of the internet. I’ve never seen his gloves used anywhere. Never saw anything like his logo. He was a brand new boxing g ..read more

The FALLACY of “Fighting on the OUTSIDE”
How to Box | ExpertBoxing

The truth is…there’s no such thing as “fighting on the outside”. And the reason why is because most people think it means to “fight from long-range”. Even worse is when they try to do it by staying far away or going backwards. YIKES! The only thing that happens when you try to stay far is you run out of space and get beat up along the ropes. Here’s why… The problem with going backwards… The alluring invincibility of the backstep. Every boxer in the world instinctively knows the backstep is the “Get out of Jail Free” card in fighting. Getting overwhelmed? Eating shots? Can’t see his punches ..read more

What to do on your REST Days
How to Box | ExpertBoxing

Asking fighters to take an “easy day” can be the hardest thing in the world. It certainly feels like the best fighters NEVER take an easy day. But I can assure you that they do. In between all the crazy highlight reels of fighters going from one impossible exercise to the next, they are indeed taking breaks. It’s the only way to really get stronger AND stay injury-free in the longterm. But how do we do it? The average “champion” is wired to squeeze in one more set, one more rep. It’s a tough addiction to break once you’re already in the gym. This all-or-nothing mentality is will lead ..read more

6 EARLY Knockout Punch Combos
How to Box | ExpertBoxing
by Johnny N

These are the deadliest FIRST ROUND KNOCKOUT combinations I have ever seen. They are so deadly, then often finish fights before they even begin. Do it right and you’ll drop your opponents right on top of their own feet. (They won’t even fall; they’ll just crumble downwards.) You should learn these combos to rack up your KO percentage, or at least prevent them from happening to you! These early knockouts are sometimes surprisingly easy because many fighters are trying to RELAX when they come out. They’re trying to stay calm and get a feel for the fight. If you’re cagey enough, you can ste ..read more

Do boxers punch harder than MMA fighters? (HOW and WHY)
How to Box | ExpertBoxing
by Johnny N
4y ago
QUESTION: If it’s true that a pro boxer punches harder than an MMA fighter, what’s the major difference in their (punch) training? ANSWER: It really depends on how you define the phrase “punch harder”. In terms of more FORCE OUTPUT CAPACITY, I would say boxers are about equal or 10% better than MMA fighters. Since our bodies are similar with more or less equal athletic ability. With the difference being from having more specialized-training and because people who are more naturally-built for boxing will tend to go towards boxing. In terms of ACTUAL FORCE OUTPUT, boxers are 10 ..read more
