The pain was real.
I had folded myself in so tight.
The process seemed to take weeks, months, years.
I stayed in my cocoon, in the dark, surrounded by meaningless thoughts.

We still were not sure how the Holiday Spirit Festival would be received but we had to try.
We had to try for our daughter. We had to try for us as a family. Who knows, maybe Liam would love it!

Liam's progress has been phenomenal. He is talking more and more each day. He is controlling his emotions and communicating his needs.
With all of this progress I started to loosen up my sensitivity to his unspoken words.

I try to stay as strong as possible. I switch my emotions like I flick a light switch.

I have never had a conversation with my son. He will be 5 in February.
I get joy out of the few words he gives me. I get joy out of his stimming. When he flaps his hands and smiles, I know that he is happy.
He has never told me he is happy.
