The Importance of Gratitude
Jessie Girl

I believe gratitude should be one of the most essential pillars in our lives, but it can be easily pushed to the wayside.  I journal daily (The Five Minute Journal), but I tend to lean more heavily into gratitude when I feel a little extra “off” or anxious. To be transparent, today is one of those days, so I thought it was the perfect time to write a blog post on the benefits of gratitude and ways to incorporate it into our daily lives easily.  What is Gratitude? Gratitude is a feeling or attitude of thankfulness and appreciation for the positive aspects of life, including the kindne ..read more

It’s a sick season, but it doesn’t have to be for you!  Below are a few holistic ways you can keep your immunity up this fall:  Balanced Diet: Include immune-boosting foods such as ginger, turmeric, citrus fruits, and green tea. For your gut health, eat more fiber, probiotic-rich foods (i.e., kimchi, apple cider vinegar, kefir), and prebiotic foods (flax seeds, legumes, whole grains).   Supplement Wisely: Vitamin D and Vitamin C are essential. I love the supplements from Cymbiotika. They are as clean and effective as you can find. I love: Liposomal Vita ..read more

I grew up loving to read! My mom and older brother loved reading, so I read a bunch, too. As I got older, I fell out of the habit of reading, but I’m happy that my love for reading has returned this year!  I am 100% in my reading era!  I have to shout out to one of my best best best friends, Maddy, who definitely got me into my reading era! It’s so fun discussing books with her! I highly recommend reading with a friend; it’s like our own mini-book club. Additionally, she suggested I use the app Goodreads! What is Goodreads? Goodreads is an app and website dedicated to book lovers and ..read more

At the beginning of each month, I set three intentions and a word of the month. It brings a sense of focus, fresh energy, and purpose into the month ahead.  I carry my word of the month and intentions with me throughout September.  If you try this, I encourage you to write or type your intentions! Tape your word of the month somewhere you can see it daily.  Writing out your intentions offers more profound clarity, specificity, and commitment. When you articulate your goals in sentences, you force yourself to be more explicit about what you want to achieve, why it matters, and ho ..read more

I want to talk about Orangetheory Fitness (OTF) because I found OTF when I needed it most. Well, in hindsight, I probably needed it a lot sooner. But I want to share my genuine love for it and shed some light on the OTF philosophy. My OTF Story: In 2021 I was at a point in life where I wanted to feel good, genuinely good. The most significant component here is that I was ready to take action to feel my best!  I wanted to feel happy in my skin and body. I wanted my mind to feel clear. I wanted to feel strong and empowered. I got all of that and so much more. Let me back up a minute.  ..read more

This will be an overview of my story, but it’s still long; ha-ha! Buckle-up!  The original inspiration for Jessie Girl came from my struggles with gut-health issues. I was frustrated, looking for answers, and I thought if I could make one person feel less alone, that would be amazing because, frankly, I felt alone for most of my journey. My journey began back when I was an infant. Yes – seriously! My parents and grandparents often describe me as a very colic-y baby. Colic is defined as when a baby cries for a very long time for no obvious reason. I was a joy, ha-ha! But, colic may be due ..read more
