How much is peace of mind worth?
Compassion Monk

Nobody ever puts a value on peace of mind. How much would you pay for it? A dollar, ten dollars, one-hundred dollars? At what price point would it be worth it to you? Or maybe a better question would be, at what price point would it NOT be worth it to you. What I wouldn’t trade for peace of mind. And yet, you can’t get it this way. You can’t acquire it through monetary means. It is something that you must cultivate. every day you live The post How much is peace of mind worth? appeared first on Compassion Monk ..read more

I’ve decided that enough frantic people are running around buying up all the toilet paper. I feel for them, they are scared. And yet, I’m choosing not to be one of them. Photo by Anna Shvets from PexelsThis is something I’ve decided to do not only for myself but also for the well being of others. Right now, a lot is going on. I get it. But tell me what getting all worked up will achieve? The reality is that the challenge we face right now isn’t really the Corona Virus at all. The real struggle is right between our ears. It’s in what we put our attention and focus into. We can fo ..read more

You can’t make other people happy.

Today I choose to experience joy. No matter what today brings, this is my resolve. I’ve come to the most humbling and liberating conclusion about people and relationships. It’s not something that you can really grasp with just your mind. It has to permeate your very being, and it must win over the head and the heart for it to truly work. You can’t make other people happy. This is not something I believe, but rather I have tested, tried, and experienced this sacred reality. You can “try” to make people happy. But you can’t make them happy. No matter how hard you try, you just can’t. Accept it ..read more

Compassion Monk Manifesto

We are taught to believe that we should stop listening to that little voice with a dream inside ourselves. We are taught to follow the rules and behave ourselves. Don’t be an artist, creative, free thinker, rebel or entrepreneur; many of us are told. Live someone else’s dream, get a job, play it safe, and someday maybe you’ll get to retire and do the fun things you’ve always wanted to do. They told you if you followed your dreams, you’d be poor and miserable. But I’ve come to the realization that if you don’t listen to that inner voice or come to terms with it in some way you’ll still end up b ..read more

Anger…it’s a mystery

I have never been an angry person, and I still don’t consider myself one. And yet, sometimes I find myself becoming angry One response that helps keep me from festering in my anger is to remove myself from the anger-inducing situation. Sometimes, I’ll go for a long walk. A little fresh air and a change of scenery can work wonders. Mindful walking prevents me from getting too into my head. It helps me to calm down and tune into my senses. It’s hard to be angry when there is a beautiful sunset right in front of you or when you feel the gentle breeze dance on your skin. I reflect upon my anger a ..read more

Losing balance and readjusting

Sometimes life can throw us off balance. Literally! I remember back during my college years I was riding my skateboard around campus, and I hit a bump in the sidewalk that sent me flying several feet away from my board. Thankfully, I landed in a patch of grass. But man, it really did hurt. In life, from time to time, you fall and get injured. We’ve all heard the ol’ cliche that when you fall you have to get back up again. But it’s not just about getting up. It’s about stopping, thinking, and readjusting. Sometimes we allow life to carry us along for the ride instead of dictating the speed at w ..read more

I am not afraid

Today I am not afraid of what may come. Terrible, awful, horrible things may come. I say let them. Today I may get fired from my job… So what. There are a million and one other things I could be doing. Today I may lose someone very near to me, won’t that happen anyway someday? Why fear eventualities that you have no control over. Today I may very well die! And to that I say Hurray! What a beautiful life I have lived. I have loved and been loved. I have experienced many of the wonderful things that life had to offer. I have made the conscious decision to live with no regrets. Why then should I ..read more
