First night out in Months-Chaophraya
Lifetime Will Tell

Bear and I had been dying to go out for food for months since they announced the second lockdown. Since the start of the pandemic, most restaurants have closed so we had to get creative with our date nights just as I assume most people did. Since restaurants were re-opening for outdoor seating from April 12th, I wanted to go to Chaophraya. I was personally looking forward to not cooking, or washing the dishes for one night. I knew most of my favourite places (Korean restaurants) did not have outdoor seating and that’s how we settled on Chaophraya Thai Restaurant. “Stop it” We had been there a ..read more

How are you guys? I am thinking that just like most people you are a bit battered, shocked but still have some fight left in you. As you are still reading this, you are doing better than most people who have not recovered from Corona. I don’t think there is enough alcohol in the world to dissolve the collective bad memories that we all have of 2020. Nonetheless there were some positive things that happened to me and Aggie this year and I would like to share them with you. I lost my job at NAIC 2020 started wonderfully for me. I left my contract at Bentley in late December of 2019 to come and w ..read more

Easy Crock Pot Risotto Recipe in 15 minutes
Lifetime Will Tell

Would you believe me if I said you can have Risotto in 15 minutes? Well you can! I did not think it was possible too. All you need is a Crock Pot. Once you make Risotto this way, you will never want to go back. The best part is, it’s a very quick recipe for those busy weekday nights or when you just don’t feel like cooking. I know I have had those days. Ingredients: -300g Risotto Rice -1 red onion/1 white onion -1 Shallot -2 carrots -100g mushrooms -Vegetable oil -60 ml red wine (I didn’t have white wine but ideally you should use white wine-120ml) -720ml Vegetable stock Related read: How to m ..read more

New blog topic: Cars and Bike Impressions

Over the last year and a half, I have really enjoyed writing for the blog. So this post will be introducing a new blog topic: Cars and Bike Impressions as written by me (Bear). I wouldn’t describe myself as an excessively creative or artistic person, but I do love to tell stories and share my impressions of events. Since travelling or gardening is a relatively small part of my life, I want to write about the one thing that is very close to my heart: cars. Ever since I played Need For Speed: Porsche Unleashed, all I wanted to do with my life was to design and build them. I can trace the start o ..read more

Best and Worst 1st car: The Amazing W126 Mercedes
Lifetime Will Tell

Do any of you remember what was your first toy car? I do. It was a gold-coloured Mercedes SEC. I did not know it at the time (when I was in kindergarten) but I remember its shape. In a bizarre twist of fate, my first real car was closely related to this model. It was exactly like this one! Only with more scratches Naturally before I was able to own a car, I had to learn how to drive one and that happened in the forgettable Ford Focus and Vauxhall Corsa. More importantly, after I learned how to drive I had to earn enough money to be able to buy one and that took me a while. I studied to become ..read more

2020-What a Year! And setting goals for 2021.
Lifetime Will Tell

Happy New Year! Whew! 2020 is now over, although it didn’t seem like it ever would. It is time to review what a year its been, and set new goals for 2021. It’s been one heck of a year and definitely one for the books. This year to me felt like a cross over between I am Legend and Ground Hog day.  The new year is seen as a time to set new goals for the months ahead. Statistically, most resolutions don’t last past February for most people but goals allow you to stay on track. Despite all the chaos of last year, 2020 was pretty good to me, a lot better than 2019. I managed to tick off some o ..read more

Pelmeni: The Great Russian Staple
Lifetime Will Tell

What is the one dish that is associated with England? People from outside of UK might say its fish & chips or the English Fry-Up. In the case of Russian food its Pelmeni. If they appear to be similar to Italian ravioli, Japanese gyoza or the Polish Pierogi its because they are. There are only so many ways in which to wrap ground meat in dough. Many cultures have got their own version of the basic dumpling; Photo Credit: Radio Milwaukee I really enjoy making them because not only do you end up with a bowl of tasty food, it can also be quite relaxing sine you spend quite a while playing with ..read more

How to make English(ish) Kimchi
Lifetime Will Tell

Aggie and I really like Korean food. In fact we like it so much that we have visited Asushi and Jinseon Korean BBQ Restaurant & Bar restaurants this year more than other restaurants. Both are Korean. For obvious reasons we could not go out as often as we wanted, so we went only to our favourite places. Whenever I eat a meal at either Korean restaurant, I always order kimchi as a side order. I really love the salty, sour, fermented flavour and it goes so well with fried meat or plain rice. It is also possible that I like it because kimchi is similar to Russian sour cabbage (Sauerk ..read more

Rodizio Rico-Our last meal before “Shockdown”
Lifetime Will Tell

I think it goes without saying that last 6 months were not easy or pleasant. With the uncertainty of a lockdown (shockdown), we decided to go out for a meal at Rodizio Rico. Not only were we all forced to spend more time indoors than we are used to, but many also started to miss the weirdest things and get cravings for unusual and newly forbidden fruit. For example, I was never a big fan of clubbing, and I am far from the best dancer in the world.
