My schedule dictated that your weekly summary podcast be recorded a little earlier than usual today so here you go. Please be sure to check back later this evening or over the weekend, too, for a discussion of your latest CoTs.
For today, just a recap based upon where things stand as I record this at about 1:00 pm ET. First, a mention of these two links ..read more

Back on Monday, we were all reminded of the old TFMR adage. Which one? Come on, you know...it's not how you begin the week that matters, it's how you end it...and though the PMs won't crawl back into the green on the week, the shares look poised to do so. Let's see if we can get it done.
As a reminder, not only were the PMs down on Monday, the GDX fell a point and a half from $34.07 ..read more

What an interesting day we had today with copper and the mining shares outperforming the Comex PMs...which were dealing with Comex option expiration issues. So where does that leave us for tomorrow and the end of the week? Let's talk about it.
For today, the usual summary and then a look ahead to the PCE data and tomorrow's weekly close. We start with these four links ..read more

Here's an earlier-than-usual podcast after a more-boring-than-usual day. Why? Do I have something fun to go do? Heck no. I'm off to the friggin dentist. Ugh.
In the end, it's the perfect day for a trip to the dentist as sitting around here watching the pre-option expiration trading is like managing a toothache, anyway. The Leghounds took control of price back on Monday so, at the ..read more

Well, here we are. Another Comex option expiration day and it comes with the usual attendant price manipulation volatility. It's also Q1 GDP day and that data was a doozy so come on in and let's try to sort through all that's going on.
Let's start with this because there are always questions....The May Comex options price and expire at the Comex close today. And what time is that ..read more

The string of downward revisions continues today with the latest durable goods report. Sure, the headline number looks great but the previous month was revised lower. At this point in the election cycle, is there any data series.. .any one. ..that isn't goosed for headlines and then sneakily revised lower at a later date?
And wouldn't it be fun if we could pull this ..read more

After a 36-hour selloff, the Comex digital metals bounced back nicely today from their overnight lows. So what's next? Well, in the short term, you'd better keep in mind that Comex option expiration day is Thursday. As such, let's take some time today to discuss how that event looms over the market and what it implies for price.
For today, a thorough discussion of all this as well as ..read more

We have an interesting day on our hands today after another sharp dump last evening in early Asian trading. Prices began to recover in London and then, once we got the flash PMIs for April, they surged higher and are now back into the green on the day. This leaves open the possibility of a nice reversal candle for the daily chart.
So welcome to Tuesday. As mentioned above, it was a ..read more

The inevitable pullback appeared today....actually, it appeared yesterday right at the Globex reopen...and it looks to continue for a while as we move to and through Comex option expiration on Thursday. This comes as welcome news for anyone looking for an entry point and today we discuss why I expect these pullbacks to be relatively shallow with most of the damage already done.

Remember, bull markets in the Comex precious metals always proceed in a manner of two-steps-forward-and-one-step-back. Why always? Because that's how the pricing scheme operates. Price pulls back to support and some Specs get washed out. That's how it works.
For today, let's also throw in some margin hikes in China and on Comex and then further consider that Comex option expiration ..read more
