I just sat down and went over all my blogs from the last 7 weeks .WOW I had forgotten all the great times. Not to mention great waves. It is too easy to take for granted surfing great waves with only a handful of humans out, everyone taking turns with an epic vibe in the water.   I can’t even begin to tell you all what a great human Allois Malfitani. The way Allois run PSC is great. The vibe and the beautiful setting at Mangrove Bay is just so chill   There are not many places in the world where you get such an amazing experience like the one at Pohnpei Surf Club .   Lush Tropical Island, An ..read more

The last week of the Fall season forecasts gave us horrible winds but forecasts do not take into consideration local weather systems resulting in completely different conditions. It has been raining a lot more than usual for Pohnpei, but the surf has been excellent. These systems switch winds locally. This last week of the Fall gave us 4 days of fun surf and by Friday those horrible winds were still being pushed back. Sunday mornings are usually the changeover for our guests from Australia and guide/photographer Swilly will departing after almost two months of guiding and shooting pictures f ..read more

Just when we thought the surf was not going to be good this week, the forecast changed. Even with today’s technology, there are those gaps modern surf-forecasting misses. We really were not expectation this, but Monday morning had some of best and cleanest surf we have seen so far this season. It was one of those days you want to be in the water all day. Light straight off shore winds, sunny skies and waves up to double overhead on the biggest sets. All surfers here (5 surfers) took their chance on swells, booked ahead, got the rewarded.. Average number of surfers on the line up, 5 to none ..read more

Like anywhere else in the world, eventually the swells have to come down, but no reason for desperation. Finally a day to rest and see a bit of the island. Winds have been light. Fishing has been fun. A new week of head high to overhead surf starting Monday the 9th and still no more than 10 surfers on island. By 3 pm, everyone is surfed out, leaving an empty lineup behind. –Swilly ..read more

There has been some unusual weather for Pohnpei but no shortage of waves. A rare and large swell generated by a high-pressure system to the east sent a 15 ft swell to Pohnpei. Because of the direction, P-Pass was around 8ft with some amazing moments. Other spots also came alive. There were a lot of fun days with waves ranging from 3 to 7 ft faces with good winds. On Friday morning, the same storm that generated the swell hit Pohnpei from an unusual direction creating some tense moments for all the sailboats anchored around, dragging them into the reefs. All we could see from the hotel rooms ..read more

For a small island, Pohnpei has a lot of beauty to experience, from the reefs and atolls, Nan Madol, 50 or so waterfalls, diving, fishing, and the World War II historical sites, there is something for everyone. But for our two guests from Australia, the surf comes first. A series of fun North Swells and light winds kept them busy for their first 4 days. Pohnpei, like anywhere else, can get windy, rainy, flat and stormy at times, but when all the elements come together it can’t be beat. The best is still to come. A bigger swell tomorrow with more on the way. –Swilly ..read more

The typhoon and a flat surf report??? Week 1. With most amazing destination in the world, Phonpei is not the easiest place to get to. Unfortunately for me, due to a delay in Brisbane, we missed our connecting flight in Port Moresby. This turned a 10 hour trip into a 25 hour mission. Thanks to Air Niugini for helping me out. They did an amazing job of getting me back on track. Week one in Pohnpei has been an interesting one to say the least. We had a typhoon close to us on Saturday. It moved off quickly but it left us with 3 days of heavy rain and strong winds. Wednesday the sun popped out an ..read more

Simon “Swilly” Williams will be doing a weekly blog at Pohnpei Surf Club showing you what Phonpei Surf Club has to offer.   “As I land on that small runway I can’t help but wonder what will the next 6 weeks bring to the table. Will there be a mega swell to end all swells? Will it be a slow start? One thing is for sure, stay tuned for my weekly updates. Here are a few moments from the past years. I have been going to P – Pass for 14 years and magic never ends. From the island, the scenery, the locals, and the waves, the combination of all of these things just keeps you coming back ..read more
