Looking for insight on part pricing particularly in CNC manufacturing. I understand the basic rule of overhead+material+post processing… I’m more curious if anyone has experience / can point me in the right direction of algorithms that in take such parameters and a 3D file in order to give pricing. I would imagine large companies like protolabs and such have developed such algos. My CS brain is curios submitted by /u/BigTamir [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I live in a country that grows a lot of mangos usually the seeds are discarded but I wanted to start cold pressing them into mango butter… I’m new to the industry and just wanted to know where to start. Is there a grading system? How do I find companies that are willing to buy the butter ? Operationally what would I need to make this real ? What equipment would I need in the assembly line ? submitted by /u/Friendly-Concept6885 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

So I'm looking for a bin that has no hole at the bottom, but, has at least one angled side, so that rocks (or whatever in it) will fall to the bottom as they are put into the bin. See picture (yellow), any ideas? Everything I can find has a hole at the bottom. https://preview.redd.it/nwrif3o24kuc1.png?width=193&format=png&auto=webp&s=374a7ec8cb983be3ecbbfd53d3bb41697cf9e563 submitted by /u/exponentfrost [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Any recommendation for creating manufacturing work instructions using AI?

Anyone aware of a good way to create manufacturing work instructions using AI? With all the advances in AI and LLM's, there must be a better way to create work instructions than writing lengthy word documents and inserting photos. Producing good work instructions is always a low priority for engineers and the quality of the output is inconsistent. If there were better tools available that allowed work instructions to be created in a shorter amount of time with less engineering labor required, it would result in better documentation. Is this a problem other manufacturing companies are experien ..read more

Measuring Cup - Ensuring Accuracy of Measurements
News from the Manufacturing Industry | Reddit

Hello - We are developing a product, a glorified/specialized measuring cup. The cap is injection molded (PP) and the body will be blow molded (HDPE). I've been working with an industrial designer who has developed both the bottle and graphics/ artwork for the measurements. The designer is using CAD software in order to carefully (hopefully) mark each measurement. For example, PINTS / OZ / ML - in specific intervals. There's approximately 100 measurements on our design. I won't pretend to know CAD software, but I'm sure this is a bit tedious. My questions: 1 - Is CAD software reliable for deve ..read more
