HIPP Organic Kindermilk

I first encountered HiPP around five years ago. I was looking for formula milk for Kyle but there were so many in the market, I didn’t know which was the best option. I thought, organic would probably be the best type to use, it’s safer. My pediatrician told me that there is one organic brand available – she recommended HiPP. I asked her where it was from and she said it was European, so I knew the standard was really high. I know for sure that it’s safe. At that time, I was also worried because I’ve heard stories of how some kids have a hard time shifting to formula milk. Others naman hindi h ..read more

How to Help Your Firstborn Adjust to a New Baby
Wander Mom PH

In my last article, I talked about how Kyle was different after Kurt was born. The first week Kyle showed changes in his behavior, I thought it was just a passing phase and it will be ok. After two weeks, I started to worry that Kyle won’t go back to normal. I wondered if I’ll get my happy and active Kyle back so I started reading about it. I realized that all the changes I saw in him – refusing to eat, getting irritable, not wanting to go to school, grinding his teeth, sleeping with us – they’re all normal. Most of the parenting blogs I read shared the same things. Their kids went through tha ..read more

Baby Blues: Changes to Your Firstborn after Baby #2
Wander Mom PH

Recently, I realized that mommies might be struggling with helping their firstborns manage and adapt to the idea of having another baby in the house. This topic came up when I was talking to the mom of Kyle’s friend who also recently gave birth. She was sharing how her firstborn got a low-grade fever (nagkasinat) after the new baby arrived. I told her that it was the same for Kyle, nagkasinat (getting feverish) after Kurt arrived. That’s when I realized that other moms who are expecting a second child might be at a loss with what’s happening to their firstborn. I think a lot of moms can benefi ..read more

Dealing with Mother’s Guilt – Part Two
Wander Mom PH

Last month, I started the discussion on mother’s guilt or the things we do as mothers that give us guilty feelings. Here are another six things that cause mother’s guilt for me. Again, as moms, we all have our shortcomings and not all moms feel guilty about the same things. These are what I experience personally and how I have learned to deal with them when they come up. 1. Getting mad at the kids – I don’t really yell at my children but I do get mad. May term mga mommies for that. Nagiging monster kami. (Mommies have a term for that. We become a monster.) It usually happens when we’re re ..read more

Dealing with Mother’s Guilt – Part One

Recently, I’ve gotten back to work and I’ve been busier than normal. Feelings of guilt started to surface and I found myself justifying my decision to work instead of being with Kurt. I realized that this is something all moms go through, that I can help other moms deal with these feelings. I want to send the message that feeling mother’s guilt is normal and hopefully, you can learn from my personal experiences. Earlier this year, I started working on my passion project, which was an idea that came to me while I was pregnant with Kurt. I initially wanted to start working on it January 2019 but ..read more

Kurt’s First Photoshoot at The Picture Company

A few months after Kurt was born, I was asked if I could do a family shoot with The Picture Company (TPC). I didn’t have to think twice – we tried TPC before when Kyle was a baby. As a family, mahilig talaga kami mag-photo shoot (we really like having photo shoots). We’ve tried different studios or booking photographers and venues. Our experience with TPC has been very good so far. They’re conveniently located inside malls, which is a big plus. Usually other studios are hard to book, while others don’t have the level of service we expect inquiry palang. For our other shoots, we would book hote ..read more

Kid-Friendly Things to Do in Sydney

I know some of you are wondering what we did in Australia. I’ll share some notes and tips from our trip to Sydney in this post – hopefully, these will help you prepare for your trip down under. Before I go into the details of our trip, I’d like to share one thing that made this trip different and more enjoyable. It was Kyle’s first trip since last year and I guess he missed traveling. When we got to Sydney, I was so surprised at how cooperative he was when taking photos – I don’t even know why because wala naman kapalit (I didn’t bribe him with something). During the trip, Kyle already st ..read more

Australia has been on our travel bucket list for a few years but for some reason, our plans always fall through. Hindi talaga sya matuloy-tuloy. (It really never pushes through.) Finally, we made it to the land down under this year, even though there were a few hiccups that almost made us miss this trip. (Again!) This trip to Australia is extra special and I was extra excited to go because it’s my first overseas travel since my birthday in July 2018. This is also the first time Kyle will travel on a long-haul flight, so that made our trip memorable as well. The funny thing about our family is ..read more

When Your Kid Doesn’t Want to Eat

As a mom, you want your kid to eat right and eat well.  It’s probably every mother’s dream to have a kid that will eat anything, especially the food that’s healthy and good for their kids.  But what if your kid turns out to be a picky eater and doesn’t eat much? When I was pregnant with Kyle, Paul (my husband) was already asking what to do if baby turns out to be a picky eater like mommy.  True enough, Kyle is one of those babies that are highly selective with their food. It was definitely a challenge for us, and I know it’s a challenge for many mommies. I’m sharing the lessons ..read more
