A 70mm for street photography works to me

Working with the Neewer 35mm f1.7 on my Olympus EPL2 I know: most of street photographers think is odd to consider a lens superior to 35mm. In street photography today the 28mm focal lenght is the most appreciated. But I am not like the most of street photographers and I consider that street photography is much older than instagram boom. In fact if we think to Camilo Josè Vergara and many photographers in the 60s, 70s and 80s they were not worried to follow rules. Today is a rule to be between in 28mm and 35mm. and even the 50mm the focal lenght used by a certain Henri Cartier-Bresson is consi ..read more

Few shots but good I think… I was busy to make photos in black and white with my Neewer 35mm f1.7 so I made just few shots in color, and 1 of them, the last photo in this selection with that lens. So I was able to make my commentary in time of elections ..read more

Shooting with a 70mm? Why not! This time I present you 3 galleries because I am working on different fronts and with different lenses. The result however with all three lenses and three different cameras is wonderfully imperfect, close to film. I dusted off the Neewer 35mm f1.7too quickly set aside because is a 70mm in micro four thirds. Speaking of this, don't make the mistake of complaining because it is declared a 35mm as done by a guy on threads with the Canon 24mm, other lens used during the week. The standard metric is always on full frame, guys. Anyways, back to us, I am enthusiast with ..read more

5 things need to go in street photography

I take responsibility and declare it Street Photography in the last years has been contamined and has too much homogenization which often leads to irrelevant and forgettable things. I made a list of things that should go: Animals: Animals are beautiful but in street photography I see most of the time mean irrelevant photograph. Visual Gags: Street photography is about capturing real-life moments than jokes. Visual gags can feel staged, forced. And talking most of the time of the photographer and not of the world around. It is a selfish approach, that lead to immediate likes on instagram (I ho ..read more

New selection in the weekend A positive day on the street. Trying to say something new. Exploring new streets in downtown. Taking my risk. But the result is that I have some good one. This morning I worked the images listening Gil Scott Heron. I continue on my path of wanting to document the real Mexico in the most genuine way. There is no space for photography that consoles, My art is deeply connected with the street, the real one. I don't take photographs that are visual games and I don't take funny pictures. I am gaining the respect of people I care, of photographers I admire. I am not in t ..read more

Physical vs Computational: a debate

More and more smartphones used for photography: I want to share some ideas with you and i have something to say also about the electronic shutter and the use of electronic zoom in some new mirrorless cameras The rise of computational photography, with smartphones leading the charge, has blurred the lines between point-and-shoot and artistic expression. While computational techniques offer undeniable advantages, the heart and soul of great photography – a camera and a lens – remains a domain where physical cameras hold a significant superiority. PLEASE NOTE: I use too smartphones to make some ..read more

Cuautepec, Barrio Bajo Yesterday, I ventured into Cuautepec, camera strapped to my wrist. Now, Cuautepec isn't exactly known for its tourist hordes or picturesque streets. It's a place most photographers would give a wide berth to. But that's the beauty of street photography, isn't it?For me is not about the cool picture to receive likes on instagram. It's about capturing the essence of a place, thwe human condition, how of real Mexico I can capture. Street photography often gets pigeonholed as capturing the bustling energy of downtowns. But there's a whole world waiting to be discovered beyon ..read more

Yesterday… Everyone uses street photography for their own purposes. I have always said that it represents training and school to me. There is no other genre that allows you to take photographs whenever you want and if you want every day you can do it. Street photography brings me clients. Whether they are photographers eager to learn the secrets of street photography, art directors who want exactly the raw and spontaneous approach of the street to enhance their brand or models who want to be portrayed by me, the important thing remains that I live myself each photographic output in a double di ..read more
